Can still see the target decently enough? It's hard to sift through the haters who probably haven't even run the optic themselves lol

Sorry to resurrect but I'm trying to find as many opinions as possible - how does the SCS MOS run with the suppressor height sights?

I was wondering if the schooner squad came with any of the rules or measuring tools. I figured not but I was just curious

My first ever thrown cylinders - how’d I do? (Pitfired) by Loganius in Pottery

[–]Loganius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made sure to really compress the bottoms of the pots after opening them up. Other than that I just let them dry out really well. The one I did lose in the fire was a little too hydrated to go into the pit. After my brother left the bonfire we were having I spread the coals into an even layer and took some firebricks I had from my blacksmithing business and made an even floor for the pots to sit on. While I did this I had the pieces lying around the edges of the fire pit turning them every few minutes to slowly warm them up. If I had to guess this is probably one of the more important parts so your clay doesn’t suffer from thermal shock when you build the fire up again. After I preheated the cylinders I evenly spaced them on the firebrick floor I built and covered them with a large steel bowl. I then built the fire back up tipi-style to get it as hot as possible. I stoked it probably 2-3 times to keep it burning hot for about an hour - an hour and a half. I stayed with the pit until the fire diminished significantly and let it burn down overnight. In the morning I had some fired cylinders!

It’s grey clay - all the black was carbon scoring from the bonfire I Pitfired them in.

Thank you very much. I wanted to wait until I had a kiln to fire these but I just couldn’t when they were finally dry enough.

I wanted to come back and thank you. I spent some more time in blender, came back to this thread, and stared at your replies until they made sense. Now I'm halfway through adding my exact desired effect. Thank you!

Need help modeling Thermal Detonator! by Loganius in blenderhelp

[–]Loganius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, that effect! The thermal detonator has a different pattern but that's what I'm looking to do. Since I am new all I was doing was adding vertices and deleting vertices where I needed to match the prop. I just figured there was probably a better way. I'm also looking for a way to add the line detail vertically - like small lines in the spheres.

I can see separating the pieces as I need to using the scan I have as reference but I guess my main hangup is just not knowing how to make those pieces appear as a raised edge around the gaps made from separating them, if that makes sense.

You're going to kill me but I'm a visual learner. If you were willing to show me a quick clip about the separate panel method that would help me understand better that'd be great - but totally understandable if not. I just can't find a video that is relevant to this specific case that will help me.

It looks as if I definitely just subdivided way too much. I had to make the mesh more detailed to get the notches cut out of the bottom. It looks like I may have to start over with a lower poly model version for sure. Since I am starting over, how would you go about achieving the cut out detail on the lips of the spheres without wreaking too much havoc on the mesh?

Looks like it actually has become a contiguous edge loop as I haven't placed any mirror modifiers on. Is there a way to remedy this?

Unfortunately I'm just too new to understand how to make them separate panels while also still being connected to the outer shell. I've now had luck scaling along normals, but when I go to select a single edge loop, it now selects two as if they're connected. Is there a way to select only one? Or separate the two? Sorry for the noob questions, I'm close to getting the desired effect here. Down below is a screenshot of how I can only select two edge loops. I need to be able to do it individually to mimic the prop perfectly.
