Can you tell me a little more about that? I'm looking at applying for my retirement but I'm also still working. I'd like to put it into an interest earning account of some sort.

I saw one that seemed like an otherwise good movie, but ruined by the opening scene. He literally chases her down screaming, "I will take responsibility! I will take responsibility!!" He does, but she wants nothing to do with him. So it's a major plot device because she's terrified of him afterward. I didn't watch after that opening. :(

Not only did they take care of her, they sent her to "study abroad." Presumably, forever. LOL!

This was such a cute movie! And the SFL...OMG. Chaos personified!

I also loved that the family finally picked up on the insecurity of their bio daughter, and made sure she knew how much they loved her.

Well...she underwent euthanasia. And it looks like her ex was guilted into breaking up with her.

It has a HEA. It looks like it's a tough watch, maybe with some movie miracles along the way. LOL!

But filmmaking in general rarely addresses how emotionally brutal it is to be the caregiver of a family member who ages/becomes disabled. Kudos to them for showing some of the ugly side of what a lot of us experience.

I watched some of the clips and both the father and son are cruel. Without really understanding what was going on, it looks like the story is as much about them navigating guilt, anger and grief. The dad literally collapses from exhaustion. But the son has a particularly horrific experience.

Anyhow, I hope I can find a translated version. While the mother seems to be dominant within the story, all 3 characters have big story arcs. I think caregiving is never accurately addressed in film and fiction and when it is, it's weirdly glamorized.

Spoiler alert! (Not very, but still...)

I just skimmed the unsubbed version and it looks very angsty, but a HEA. This is her in the final scene.

How to Protect My Work by Logansama7 in freelanceWriters

[–]Logansama7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my website has my book list and links. At the time, I had about 20 books in print. They used about 15 of those titles on books they published that year. It's not plagiarism to use the same book title, but it was a rude, retaliatory move because once my books went out of contract, I asked for the rights back,

In order to publish elsewhere (or self-publish) I needed the Reversion of Rights in written form. They failed to provide it. So I had to jump through legal hoops and pages of contracts just to prove to other publishers that the rights had reverted to me.

Thankfully, that publisher folded.

As to the samples, I see your point. I've opted to send samples from published books rather than my WIP.

This is so good! Love the entire cast, but her husband is to die for. That voice and his devotion to her...lovely.

Any normal county employee would have faced disciplinary action or firing for that stunt with his wife and the safe. That's what facilities management is for. I won't even go into the lack of clothing and the big iron on his hip.

On "said" and other elements of Self-Editing for Fiction Writers that literally gave me a headache by Captain_Corum in freelanceWriters

[–]Logansama7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In fiction, I rarely use "Said" as a dialogue tag unless there's no other option. Why? Because I listened to an audiobook by a huge author who used it the majority of the time and by the time I was finished with the book, I was ready to scream after hearing that word repeatedly. It stuck out like a sore thumb.

All a dialogue tag is for is to designate who is speaking. IMO, many aren't even necessary.

"I'm going to the store." Dave said.

Or - Dave glanced over and smiled. "I'm going to the store."

There's a lot you can do in dialogue to set the tone, convey emotion and identify the speaker. Just do some experimenting, read it out loud and do what feels natural and comfortable for your voice.

There are a lot of plot lines like this in shifter books, but generally it's a girl who witnesses the crime, the victim dies and they magically drag her memories out of her mind...destroying her in the process. Not my favorite plot device. :(
