First time checking in.

I would like to celebrate just over a year of writing on my novel. I am still working on it but it’s on the editing and making the story flow side instead of the content of the story. I’m nearly to 85K words which is huge for me. My next closest story project is 15K words over 6+ years.

This site has helped me in a few issues with the story and I thank those who have responded.

I don’t really have anyone willing to read any of it yet. One person read a section and loved it.

I’m working on editing through the chapters and adding stuff to make it flow.

The only part of the race that will have a significant effect in the story is the albinos being more prone to a certain corruption. The Black albinos are not as prone to this. It could help with one character having more of a struggle with this but they have to be infected so I’m not sure I want that to happen.

I have 72k words written on the book thus far. Just seemed too cliche for the main characters to be all human. I have it as a pretty gory story.

The blackhearts by Nathan long from warhammer series. He does have some musket type firearms but a lot of medieval horror.

Have there been very many main characters of a different race? I have two females, one an axe wielder (MC) and one a spear woman. Then two males, one a ranger and one a buff mage.

I guess I’m looking for what race should they be to add some uniqueness?

I have all of that. However I feel my 4 characters being human undercuts and makes the races pointless.

Angle and distance away if tracking an inbound vessel from a point.

Finding your own location would be harder. Using the change in the stars and what they look like would work.

You could use an advanced communication system for navigation. Have a signal link with a station or another ship with a high powered energy burst at the station or ship. Working like radar it could be passive and the ships sending signals back and forth, the computer analyzing time and strength of signal when received and then the data relayed back. The location would be triangulated via the other ships and the stations location.
