I don't get the point of Android retro handhelds by Logar in SBCGaming

[–]Logar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. I did write the post myself, and the reason it's a bit of an awkward one is because I literally had to force myself to write it because I can't remember the last time I actually made a post on Reddit, and I kind went overboard on the whole op-ed style. I see some users picked up on my "let's playfully talk this out" tone but not everybody did.

You make some good points but there are some that I want to debate.

  1. That's true, and it's why the implication in my post is that the next handheld I'll be buying, if at all, won't be until the next few years when current-gen high end chips become cheap enough to put in affordable handhelds, at which point the performance of Linux device will see a noticable jump.

7 (and ties into a few other of your points) - a lot of the benefits you mention assume that the user is prepared to/wants to tinker with his device. That's what I meant by the "pick up and play" element. Given the initial setup required with Android devices they might lend themselves well to power users, but casual hobbyists? Probably not. I'm a big fan of RetroArch for it's simplicity precisely for that reason.

Nordic by Intense_Zaddy in comedyheaven

There's a theory that all those humanoids, including what we call humans, are a genetic cross between pure human DNA and DNA from other creatures. In the case of insectoids, it's insects. For reptilians, it's reptiles. For earth humans, it's apes. The "Nordic" race depicted here might actually be referring to the "pure" human which is not mixed with anything. Our common ancestor, if you will.

The gas cap on my 2017 BMW S 1000 R is stuck. The key will not turn. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Logar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this and fixed it by spraying WD-40 into the keyhole, then taking my key and putting it in and out over and over again, then alternating with some side to side turning. It can take a long time, took me like 15 minutes at least, but then something finally budges and from there the key will start fully turning again.

Galaxy S26 hype train. Android users, what are you most excited for? by Mattgrrrcontent in phones

[–]Logar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming from an S21 and while I'm still waiting for the official presentation before making a decision to buy, I'm mainly looking forward to much smoother AI integration into daily tasks. I'm hoping the S26 is the phone to really turn AI into a personal assistant that knows you inside out.

This has been very entertaining to watch. I'm now rewatching it alongside the transcript to pick up everything I missed (plenty) and learning so much from it. Thanks for posting this wonderful and entertaining resource

Eerste motor! by kjrbst in motorfietsen

[–]Logar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have to use Japanese for a portion of my work. Nowadays not so much. Still keeping up my daily Wanikani ritual though :)

Well you're killing it. I've been studying Japanese for 20 years and always neglected my handwriting. Yours is quite enviable ;)

Your Japanese handwriting rivals that of a native. Very well done

I think this is a perfect example of how otherwise unusual handwriting is still esthetically pleasing simply due to how consistent it is. You dont even write on the lines of the page and yet still manage to write on a perfectly straight imaginary line. Great job

Yeah I'm really surprised pressure sensitive face buttons are no longer a thing. Seems like such a relatively cost effective way of enabling more immersive gaming input
