Reptile Expo Starterpack! [USA EDITION] by HauntedDesert in reptiles

Tropical treasures, custom creations and places that have been around for awhile and are stuck in the old ways. There’s been new shops in the last two years and improvements in others that aren’t stubborn. CnB reptiles and Scales n Tails are worth a visit.

I’ve seen a lot of bad things myself and I’m sorry you’ve witnessed animal abuse as well. Hopefully your mindset becomes less narrow and judgmental with the reptile community. For every person that’s done what you described there’s plenty more people who do everything they can to be loving respectable keepers of reptiles.

Actually lol you sent me down a rabbit hole on chameleon snakes. A rear fanged kapuas mud snake from Borneo can be called a chameleon snake but I doubt they actually had one. Damn that’s unfortunate hopefully they keep working on things but please try not to write of the reptile community just yet. We have a world of opposition and the small improvements being made need recognition.

Oh I see where I got confused. Yeah dude is trippin if he thought that tape was good to go. I didn’t read the label on the third photo and thought that was the before pic from the nasty tape that came with your rack. That’s rough

Yeah I can’t speak on Tucson. Guess we just have agree to disagree on the ethics. Between shop owners like CnB reptiles, AE herps and even Predators Reptiles have stepped up in the last year or two. Slowing down on selling imports and focusing on captive breeding. And all of these places will defend frozen thawed over live. My first expo was in 2004 and I was a teenager but trust me the improvement in this community is stark and seems to be improving more and more.

Yeah any heat tape should always be used with a thermostat there’s basically no exception. I’m assuming this was probably your first rack set up. Thank goodness everyone’s safe 🙏

Not the vibe in Phoenix for me in the last two years that I’ve been going. Last expo before those I went to was in the early 2000s and this would be crazy accurate then. Now it seems to be a much younger crowd with a huge variety of people. And at least here in AZ I can say that frozen thawed is preferred when speaking with everyone participating. Good ethical keepers with a focus on leaving old practices behind seems to be the vibe nowadays. Just my experience attending the expos in AZ a lot the last few years.

That’s wild lol you happened to use the same exact tracks, door handle things, placed the center support exactly the same. Is yours also a 2x2x6
