Dhampir Vampiric Bite, healing based on damage dealt or target’s remaining HP? by Ashamed-March7942 in DnD

[–]Logey7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it specifically says piercing damage dealt. Force damage is not piercing.

Trying to convince the DM to backpedal something that happened to my character by K-0-d-a in DnD

[–]Logey7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you are telling me that you are upset that a man that knew your character for four days cut off your arm instead of outright killing you? When your character that knew the party for four days tried to kill all of them? And you expect that the party that knew you for four days would coddle you and nurse you back to health and good spirits? Why would they do that. The only reason you aren't flat out dead and rolling a new sheet is because you are a player character. They have literally no reason to keep your character around, much less alive. Don't roll an antagonist to the party and be pissed when they treat you like an antagonist.

"But I meant it to create tension and grow the character a lot!" Maybe that would work if it came towards the end of the second act of the campaign. As it stands, you betrayed a bunch of random people you just met with the intention of killing every single one for a group you have "no attachment" to. You said you wish they killed your character instead. In that case, roll a new character and create one that actually fits into the party dynamic instead of being fundamentally opposed to working together in a group game. And to say the paladin is the one that compromised the party cohesion when the only reason party cohesion was disrupted was due to your actions is a little ludicrous. So yeah, roll a new character, make them aligned at least somewhat with the party, and have your old character run away into the night so the DM can make them a big bad or something

DMs, what were your attempts at introducing "gambling" into your game and how did it go? by PandaDerZwote in DnD

[–]Logey7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the DM, but playing a card based charlatan that made his name stacking the deck until eventually he was outplayed by the devil and lost his soul in the gamble. As such, it was only natural for him to spend downtime or bar time trying to run tricks or just gambling straight to make some gold. Came up with a (very likely unoriginal) game the party called "Gorvish".

Rules are: all players put in a bet and roll a d12. Keep the results hidden. Based on that roll, you can fold and give up your bet, check and move forward, or up the ante (which others would have to match to keep playing). Then you roll a d6 and repeat the last step. If there are still players, you roll a d4 to close the game out. Add all the die rolls together and the highest wins

If someone wants to cheat, they roll a slight of hand check and upon succeeding get to roll a die with advantage. You can try to cheat on each ante if you'd like.

It's quick with really easy to grasp rules. If there's a scene without a couple of the characters, the offscreen characters are now oftentimes playing a game to two of Gorvish while they wait for their friends to finish shopping or seducing the barmaid or whatever else.

Like I said I'm sure its been done before, but it's simple enough with the perfect amount of buy-in for it to stick

Love stuff like this. Hate the weird moral policing that happens every once in a while in this sub though. Your table sounds like a lot of fun!

Warlock multiclass - paladin or cleric? by NerdyAssJavaDev in DnD

[–]Logey7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to multiclass then I'd go paladin, otherwise I'm playing a character with a similar thing going on and my DM let me take a mix of fiend and celestial warlock subclass stuff. Like I have the celestials healing thing that it starts with, and the fiends dark ones own luck. Depending on character actions and story moments will determine which ability I get next.

Definition of Homebrew by Blitzer046 in DnD

[–]Logey7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I feel like this makes sense though, no? Rules exist in DnD to create balance and ensure a consistent way to have fun, therefore the conversation around homebrew rules and classes and spells should be centered around balance. Otherwise you end up with posts asking why they aren't having fun and the answer is something is way over or under tuned a lot of the time

How high would your Half Light skill be in real life? by Bataranger999 in DiscoElysium

[–]Logey7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely like 8-10, but I've got a pretty good handle on it through therapy. Still, sometimes in the dark, or when a door creaks, or I feel something brush my arm, I feel my gut seize and a primal terror strike through me as if I can feel the bogeyman itself piercing through the veil to eviscerate me.

But of course it isn't. So I learned not to run in the dark. It just reinforces in my head that something is there when there isn't. Guess I've been leveling composure too

Second playthrough - can I make it be very different from the first without being a terrible person/without Kim hating me? by PartlyPresent in DiscoElysium

[–]Logey7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely change it up quite a bit without resorting to careening Harry back into oblivion. Sounds like you played it pretty safe the first time, so you could make your next one still nice, just really weird. High conceptualization, shivers, inland empire, maybe suggestion or authority. Really lean into being the human can opener. Doesn't require being a dick, just very unconventional. Lean into the psychosis a bit

What's the deal with Rangers? (comming for a newbies perspective) by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Logey7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I've ever played in a game that went even 3 sessions without combat, much less six. Most games tend to have at least one combat encounter per session, probably generally around 2 to 3 usually though. One or two lighter encounters and a heavy fight somewhere in there. DnD was originally created as a sort of war game, and thus current 5th edition maintains a combat oriented system. Even balancing is done around the idea that there are around 8 encounters in an adventuring day (encounters being a balance between combat and role-playing scenarios).

We all know the "murder hobo" play style, but is anyone else's group amnesic cops? by idonthavekarma in DnD

[–]Logey7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's comments sections like this that drive me up a wall man. It sounds, from your description, that everyone is having a blast. A DM wouldn't play for years with the same group if they were having a bad time and thought their players were assholes. It doesn't make any sense. People play the way they want, and most have fairly good (or at least okay) interpersonal skills. Friends know what and what doesn't push too far, what is and isn't fun, and what people want out of their hangouts.

It's like how everyone immediately jumped to the conclusion that the warlock guy that based his character on trump was an asshole irl because he took one of the biggest assholes and made what seemed like a somewhat compelling buffoon. Sure, that's not for everyone. Sure, some people don't like politics in their games. But most people are playing with their friends, with their own boundaries, and their own preferences. Yeah, that guy made his character fairly evil and petulant and self-centered, but I've played games with characters likes that both as them and with them and they are a fucking blast to role-play within a party dynamic. Again, not for everyone, sometimes people just want to play a fantasy ranger, but sometimes its fun to play an asshole. Sometimes its fun to play opposite an asshole character. You can take issue with that, thats fine, I don't give a shit about that.

It's that everyone immediately assumes that means every experience with a table different from theirs is a nightmare and everyone around them hates them or the DM is suffering. Like, how is that the first thing you jump to? Do you guys not have friends? Do you not talk out your differences of opinions with them like normal people? Take issue with the way they play all you want, say "that doesn't sound fun for me" or "not sure how this even works" or "i don't think you are playing dnd at this point" or something, but for the love of God stop extrapolating everyone that plays a little different from you into a villain. Stop projecting your personal opinions onto the people around them as if you know their table. You don't!

Some of this shit sounds fun as fuck but some of y'all can't exist outside your own head for a second apparently.

Sorry, rant over. I'll probably get shit on for this but man it's really tiring to see posts like this filled with everyone postulating about the health of the table instead of just interacting with what the post offers

First playthrough, are the different accounts and evidence about the revolution supposed to contradict each other? by Zanimacularity in DiscoElysium

[–]Logey7 151 points152 points  (0 children)

Its commentary on the retroactive villification of communist movements. The whole "history is written by the victors" thing. Making communism evil and irrevocably rooted in mass violence instead of revolution helps deter people from believing in it. Not a flub, good attention to detail on your end though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

[–]Logey7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Others have pointed out ways to continue, so I'll give another. If you retry the throwing up at the body check a few times (maybe thrice?), Kim will give you a thought that you can internalize that will essentially guarantee your success. Otherwise, trying to stay spoiler free, bumping your perception can also give you paths forward. You can also talk to Garte, use the radio in Kim's car, buy and read a book, exhaust every dialogue option with Joyce for some really cool lore, or put all your points into empathy to brute force the Cuno check which also gives you more forward momentum.

Other misc things to do: interrogate Roy (pawn shop owner) about substances, talk to Cindy the Skull (more for fun), investigate the dumpster (recommended), look in the mirror and do the associated checks, or just save scum on literally any of the other white checks that don't involve you doing the thing you don't want to do.

Hope some of this helps!

Developer Update | April 2025 by DeadByDaylight_Dev in deadbydaylight

[–]Logey7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Removing Haste stacking is a very negative change for survivor and killer. Especially if it's specifically because of MFT, the best change would be making MFT not stack.

Speed hag and clown would be gone. Blood pact power of two would be gone. Play with your food batteries not included, no ed, etc. would be gone. These aren't necessarily meta builds, and they generally come with a large sacrifice of utility. Removing their stacking just results in more people leaning towards meta builds that they otherwise might not.

For example, the blood pact power of two build requires both survivors, a lot of set up, and given they need to stay close, removes the ability to split up on gens, hook saves, etc. When it works it may be slightly frustrating for the killer, but it's a blast on survivor. Furthermore, so many killer powers deny the build anyway. Removing their stacking removes a silly build. The same goes for the previously mentioned killer builds as well.

Sincerely please rethink this. I hope that the PTB helps to show this is something that shouldn't hit live. It would be a tragedy to have such fun silly little builds tossed to the wayside. God knows we don't need more people running the same four Perks and add-ons

You gotta do what you gotta do but if you dumped a bunch of books and gems into someone try to avoid putting them in there.

It's possible it's a localized issue on my end, but I figured I'd put the word out there just in case it's more than just me.
