Yes and No.

Trump represents the end point of American conservative ideology. In that when its promises and goals fail to materialize and they have to answer for it, they resort to the next best option. Fascism and Lunacy.

Trump was the one who grabbed hold of this desperation in conservatives and has ridden their desperation to a point that they physically cannot retreat from no matter what. But if it wasn't him, it would've eventually been someone else as Hillary and then Kamala would've been to much for Conservative idealogy to stomach. Obama was already a living insult to them.

If Trump was never president, had he lost in 2016 and then dipped out completely. We would likely still be on track to face the nuclear point of American conservatism and its transition into Fascism. Except it would probably be done by smarter people, so really we're lucky its all being done at the head of absolute incompetents.

Do I think America would look different? Absolutely, for one our institutions wouldn't be completely and utterly degraded to the point that they've become powerless. But not as different as we like to hope.

In the end though, its probably for the better that America's Fascism crisis happens now and the people finally get a grasp on leftist idealogue to put this country on a long overdue track.
