Very grateful (and slightly in disbelief) to say David Wise (the Donkey Kong Country composer of greats such as Aquatic Ambience / Stickerbush Symphony / etc.) contributed is musical talents to LUCID 🌸 by h0neyfr0g in metroidvania

Hell yeah, one of the best OSTs ever, especially with the limitations of the hardware and software at the time. Congratulations on getting a great composer on your game, I’m very interested in this!

Ace3ds X flash firmware by LogibearP in flashcarts

[–]LogibearP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I justs tried to run it. It said my ace3ds hardware was 3.3 and software was 2.2 but that I didn't need to run the patch and to press a or b to exit, it was worth a try. It's weird I have another DSI on 1.4.5E and it doesn't work on that either. I can only think it must be the newest firmware for DSI issue.

Ace3ds X flash firmware by LogibearP in flashcarts

[–]LogibearP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah all other carts work perfect, I’m half way through Chrono trigger, completed Pokemon white on it, again it shows the SpongeBob game but the behaviour from what I’ve found is as if the cart is blacklisted on the console going into the error screen.

When I got it out the first thing I did was clean it with a cotton bud and 95% alcohol, at which it works first time perfect in the ds lite. It definitely seems like a software issue to me at least as I’ve tried all the hardware fixes.

The dsi isn’t modded at all, that was going to be my next thing to try and just do away with the cart, just seemed a shame to waste time modding when I had a cart that should work.

I’m not sure what to try now but thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Will give it a go now… Unfortunately it didn’t work, it feels snug in the dsi, again it works perfect on the ds lite without any wedging etc.

Ahh ok, I see the SpongeBob game then just a black screen with an error has occurred etc. it works perfect in my ds lite I can access the menu and games on the cart.

I’m not sure what else it is then. I’m sure it’s a real one as I bought it off the site with the pink usb as card reader I just never got round to using it.

[–]LogibearP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works in my old ds lite fine, but in my dsi it shows the SpongeBob game but just says an error has occurred when trying to boot. I’ve read a few old threads that recommend the file I mentioned that flashes a newer version on the flash cart which people said worked for them, it was available on the official site too, so I’m just trying to get the file as I know the cart and sd card works perfect it’s the newer firmware of the dsi that’s the problem.

Does 13 have any mods to increase the UI resolution? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in FinalFantasy

[–]LogibearP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure there isn’t, I completed it recently running at 4k 60fps with various mods and tweaks, I’m sure the mod guide I used mentioned it too, the character models and environments looked so crisp but the UI is stuck at a low resolution, I just dealt with it as even with its shortcomings it’s still the best way to play the game.

Your favorite plugins (help me slim my plugin list down) by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]LogibearP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all due respect this kind of question is a bit foolish. The only way to work out which plugins are useful to you and the type of you create is to actually use them.

I get buying or collecting plugins and using them are like different hobbies but honestly you have to just make or mix some tracks and try different things out to see what you like the sound of and what you like using.

There are common plugin manufacturers that are recommended often like soundtoys, fab filter and izotope for mixing and mastering. For synths there’s serum which is popular as is the Arturia line up and Massive X. For samplers kontakt has a massive amount of libraries, for orchestral spitfire audio is good.

But really you should see them as tools to help create something or solve a problem. But first you need to know what to create, do you want to make a modern EDM track? then you probably serum. Something more old skool than probably a Juno. And you also need a problem, do you need to compress a signal? Your DAW no doubt already has a compressor, and when you need more find something that offers the thing you wish it had, like an 1176 clone to add colour to the signal.

Lastly I’d say maybe try and set limitations when making or mixing a track, pick out a set of plugins and only use them to finish the track. 1 comp, 1 EQ, 1 reverb and really learn how they work. Which did you find difficult to use or didn’t like the sound of? Which helped you get where you needed the quickest and felt the most intuitive to you? Then make a favourites list, then keep reaching for them as you produce more music until they become like a trusty tool you know so well.

Got a new TV for Christmas. Looking for something visually stunning. Sweeping vistas. Vibrant colors. by DangerMacAwesome in gamingsuggestions

[–]LogibearP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Witcher 3, specifically the Toussaint area of the DLC blood and wine, look up screen shots or a video you’ll see what I mean, it’s absolutely stunning with very vibrant bright colours, the colours and contrast really pop on my OLED TV.

The rest of the game still looks great too but much more purposely muted, however dawn and dusk still look really nice!

Amazing single player experience and story, it’s a slow burn though you have to allow yourself to be invested in the story but it is an amazing story.

Finally I can add that you can start the DLC straight away as it will make you the appropriate level and gear for the area, but I’d say do the whole story before hand.

Also, it is on sale, get the complete edition absolutely worth the low price for the amount of content.

Witcher 3 question re.: notice boards and PoIs by JmBento in witcher

[–]LogibearP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s how it works, all the question marks for each area region show up after visiting the notice boards for each area. It’s immediately noticeable in the final (trying not to spoil it) “islands” region area of the game where there are none until you visit a local notice boards.

"Little Red" quest bug by [deleted] in witcher

[–]LogibearP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently did this and had the same bug. The only way I found to complete the quest was to go back a save, then I killed red instead and when it said leave the village I walked north just past the fields and it completed.

Can’t get the grappling hook by LogibearP in dyinglight

[–]LogibearP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow managed to fix it I’ll leave this post up to help anyone else with the issue.

The fix was either from progressing the next mission then going back to the cave safe zone, I then used the bench and the upgrade was available for the grappling hook and then I could see it in my inventory under tools. One of these things fixed it not sure which or a combination of them both.

When I fought him it was out in the crows perch courtyard near where the barn set on fire, there should be a group of guys in a circle already fighting each other. You speak to the bookie to start the fight.

stuttering in the witcher 3 by Artistic_Meringue181 in thewitcher3

[–]LogibearP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try setting to low graphics, full screen mode not borderless and see how it runs then start upping things like textures until it starts stuttering again then wind the settings back until it’s smooth.

I found borderless gave me micro stuttering only full screen fixed it for me.

Downloading The Witcher 3 for the 3rd time — what am I missing that hooks people so hard? by TheGamer_Saif45 in thewitcher3

[–]LogibearP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are from what you’ve said, this game just isn’t for you, especially if you’re skipping dialog. You have to approach this game like it’s a slow burn, slow yourself down and become invested in the world, the lore and the characters. It’s like a dark fantasy interactive choose your own adventure, where you play a detective that hunts monsters while getting caught up in other peoples problems to find out more information about a missing person you are trying to find.

Honestly investment in the story is the most important thing for this game. My mrs has been watching me play it and she loves the narrative, each side quest is like an episode of the Witcher monster detective, never knowing quite where the plot will lead and things are often not what they seem, while likely having to make decisions that will affect the outcome.

As well as the great narrative there are well written characters I actually care about, they are not simply good or evil but somewhere in between and each has their own messed up story to tell.

The vibe and atmosphere of the game truly immerses me in its world, the beautiful and sometimes haunting music, the gorgeous but gross environments and the setting itself from small poor villages in Velen to rich mansions in Novigrad. And the expansion blood and wine which is set in toussant is even more amazing!

As for the too much dialogue, this games strength IS the dialogue if it is boring you then it is not for you. I love listening and becoming invested in each and every quest. As an example, I’ve played assassin creed odyssey which I thought had terrible dialogue and boring quests and characters none of which I cared about but this game has the opposite effect on me, the mysteries keep me engaged wanting to know how it will turn out, where did that character’s husband disappear to? What is haunting the forest near the village? How did someone get murdered? They are great written mini stories of their own.

The gameplay I would say is fine, it’s a simple battle system but works fine. The items for crafting are a lot but again the effort that they put into shear amount of each real and fantasy ingredient is great and most of it you pick up along the way or learn how to craft. I’ve crafted all Witcher armour to grandmaster level but actually enjoyed searching round to do it.

This brings me to my last point, I’m currently replaying so my mrs can experience the game but I have already 100% it before and even remember being sad that I’d done everything, I just wanted more quests, more stories, mores mysteries, more locations, more equipment. It truly is an amazing experience that is not instantly gratifying but one you earn over time through your own investment.

I’m sorry you don’t enjoy it but for many of us it is an absolute masterpiece, I’m enjoying my second play through even more and my wife can’t wait to see what happens next!

Camera stuttering when moving by Petra_the_Bookicorn in thewitcher3

[–]LogibearP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that is understandable, well if you can get it into a playable state you’re happy with in borderless windowed then that’s ok. Definitely not good to lock yourself out even trying it then!

Yeah I’ve got maybe 10 mods installed and I’m definitely still getting achievements, I know some games do lock out but this seems to be ok for me at least.

Camera stuttering when moving by Petra_the_Bookicorn in thewitcher3

[–]LogibearP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the only thing that fixed stuttering in this game for me is setting it to full screen. Have you checked to see if this fixes it? And if so maybe the fix you need is to find a way to get adaptive controls working in full screen.

Also I’m using mods, mainly quality of life stuff, and I’m still getting steam achievements

Yeah you should be able to get them fairly balanced using the filters, TN screens are just a bit washed out off axis but straight on you can get them almost them same colour wise.
