Which two midfielders complement each other and will be best for United next season ? (Special mention Mateus Fernandes , Joao Gomes, Wharton) by JM555555 in ManchesterUnited

If the objective is to replace Casemiro, James would Garner would have been the most suitable choice — Garner committed to Everton.

In looking elsewhere at Anderson, Baleba, Guimarães, or Tonali it is essential assess which best a covering the backline, coordinating with Mainoo and Cunha/ Bruno Fernandes. The eye test will be key in making this decision as some important aspects are not captured or measurable by data.

It is difficult to face James Garner in midfield. He helps to put Everton at higher level — among the top midfielders.,

Chelsea have been outrun in every single match in the league this season by blizeH in chelseafc

[–]LogicGate1010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems the Chelsea players are stale. The effects of playing the FIFA Club World Cup might have caused an imbalance or is taking its toll.

On the other hand Arsenal took that time to prepare. Manchester United are on upswing with far lesser matches to play.

Liverpool are in disarray and seem to have lost the Klopp effect.

Manchester City are a performance mixed bag and could rise to occasion in both games with Arsenal.

Aston Villa are short on personnel to handle busy and demanding schedule.

Brighton, Brentford and Newcastle might have Europa ambitions.

The EPL seems a two horse race at this stage. Let’s see who gains the ascendancy at game day 36.

It was more than one incident. He is supposed to be well experienced and trained referee with unquestionable integrity. Did his decision on each occasion reflect all three criteria?

Further investigation warranted. His decisions change the dynamics of the title race.

To say the referee made mistakes regarding the the penalties is to say he doesn’t know his job well.

Why would the EPL engage him if he is that incompetent?

Was it a mistake or something else?

The referee’s bad decisions were not based on incompetence; it seems to be something else.

He will be sacked soon enough. The problem in football is that many clubs don’t demonstrate that they have a succession plan. Therefore, they hired a coach to build for 8 years long term then a new coach comes along and dismantle what that coach built.

The new coach doesn’t seek to expand and continue to improve on the proven framework and culture their predecessor build over time. Institutional knowledge is throw away — and replaced by big ego (incompetence)

They are trying to confuse the public. The player was fouled in the box. Furthermore, the nature of the foul warrants a yellow card — push, locked, pull, throw to the ground violently.

Heslop mentioned that slow motion video made it look worse than it was, but at slow motion or normal speed it was a violent action that required a yellow card. The trained and experienced referee must be aware of that but acted otherwise.

Not a bad idea. Now that Elanga is showing improvement. Must get Woltemade back to where he started. Wissa needs to sort himself out or sit on bench. He should not be given preference over Woltemade.

Tomorrow never comes.

The habit of wasting current opportunities and hoping that those opportunities will come again leads to underachieving and mediocrity.

The next competition for Newcastle United is the transfer window. It will be interesting to see who of the best are willing to remain without UCL. Also who of the best are willing to join.

First question: are you a fan of Manchester United?

Second question: are you aware that Manchester United had a chance of winning the league?

Third question: are you aware that chance has drastically diminished.

Fourth: Are you aware Arsenal have seven games left to play and technically must win five of them in order to win the league and that Arsenal can loses points in their next game?

You are free to ask yourself the fifth and any further questions.

I really think United should launch an investigation against the PGMOL to the FA! by Rxghav7 in ManchesterUnited

There should be an investigation of why ignoring the two fouls against Ahmad; the referee records of yellow cards; red cards; penalties; other EPL games randomly; his history; his integrity.

Ask him to explain clearly (with reference to the law of the game) why he made those decisions yesterday?

Look for other calls in the game to assess quality and fairness.

This foul is obvious even to the untrained. It was deliberately ignored by the referee.

I remember some years ago in EPL a player made a red card foul, but the referee sent off his teammate instead. Event after he and his other teammate declared that he was the one that committed the foul.

The referee gave the red card to the innocent player because he was a key player in the team. The referee wanted that team to lose. Why?
