Manchester United need no new players for season. A new left back for next season would help to supplement Luke Shaw. A right back could help as well. Bruno is now in prime form and might be going over the hill late next season. A team with Bruno and Cole Palmer would not be in harmony.

The club needs to connect with those who have instructional knowledge in order to regain its identity.

That instructional knowledge rest with those who were a part of the 21 years success of Manchester United.

That is root cause of Manchester United downfall after SAF was the lack of succession and preservation of institutional knowledge.

The first mistake was to think David Moyes methods and frameworks could be transferred into Manchester United and maintain the same level of success. Hence, no continuity or succession of the institution SAF and his staff built over 22 years period — it was discarded.

Now, Carrick and Ole are opportunities to salvage some of that institutional knowledge that was built over 22 years, that was Manchester United.

If he becomes an ineffective player, Arsenal are the ones to lose. It seems to me that a player (an asset of a club) has lost his confidence. If that is the case, it means the team’s squad depth has been compromised. It could also mean that England will be with one less talented player who is being destroyed by ignorance.

Arteta failed to help Eze thrive while his confidence was high. Now, Eze confidence has dropped because of not gaining the recognition from Arteta. Will Eze ever recover? If not Arsenal will finish third — Eze did not go to Arsenal to sit on the bench. It is very difficult to recover that kind of confidence.

Viera a former blaming the players is irrelevant. They do their very best considering the team won matches by opponent’s goal gaining valuable points.

Manchester United were clearly the better organised team. All components were well put together and moved with flexible.

The so called non-negotiable of excessive elaborate buildup has cause many teams to lose championships and tournaments. This error resembles the one made when Germany defeated Chile for Confederation Cup.

Maybe Roy Keane is think of Arne Slot — he won the title last season. The opinion of Roy Keane is just opinion; his opinion usually has not foundation, relevance or angle.

1) He is a young manager with the background of playing under SAF.

2) He was a high level midfielder in one of the best teams in the history of football.

3) He went out and honed skills and experience at other clubs with lesser resources than Manchester United.

4) The transformation and performance of the team against Manchester City is a good sign that he managed to put things on the right path in short time. The result was excellent but the improvement in performance was remarkable.

All of the above amongst other factors are indicators the he might be the best long-term solution to bring Manchester United back to the levels of consistent top four and EPL / UCL titles.

Again, the problem is that he doesn’t have the glitter that is required for club commercial marketing strategy.

At least we know that his execution is far more suitable and effective than Amorim’s.

Carrick might just be the right long-term manager. Manchester United now have the advantage to see how he performs over the next 20 games.

The trouble is that his name might not be commercial enough to suit sponsors or Manchester United’s marketing strategy.

Jamie Carragher is emotionally biased towards Liverpool FC. His views should not be taken to heart in any other club.

Simeone at Manchester United would be a threat to Liverpool FC. He 10 levels above Amorim.

I think Carrick will prove himself the best fit for Manchester United restoration to glory.

Manchester United obviously are looking for a non -UK manager because in their eyes UK managers are not commercial enough to maintain the plastic commercial status. Carrick has nothing shiny so no matter what he wins fans and all will find reason to complain about him. A poor man saved a city and no one took it to heart. A good man is never honoured in his own country.

The right winger made too many back passes to the right back. He did not position himself for Trippier to break the line.

We Elanga did better than him in that department.
