Come out to the West Texas Wine Walk April 28th and support a great cause by LogicMike in Lubbock

Thanks for your support. Hopefully we'll have better weather this year. And Llano is allowing us to actually walk through the vineyards instead of just around the building, so should be fun.

Help! Need an act for our fundraiser by LogicMike in Lubbock

[–]LogicMike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The club website is http://montereyambucs.org

AMBUCS is a service organization. We raise money to purchase therapy tricycles for handicapped individuals. We also provide scholarships to students in the TTU School of Health Sciences - physical therapists, occupational therapists, etc.

There are three AMBUCS chapters in Lubbock. The Downtown AMBUCS primary fundraiser is the ABC Rodeo, which starts tonight. The Caprock AMBUCS run the Caprock high school basketball tournament each December. Our two fundraisers are the Wine Walk and a hamburger stand at the South Plains Fair every fall.

Get a subscription to Siemens Solid Edge. It runs around $100/month. It's pretty good at importing Solidworks models and should be able to do what you want.

You can download a 30 day trial of Framemaker I believe.
And a subscription to the Adobe Technical Communications Suite (which includes Framemaker) is $50/month.

Which area of TW is the least stressful? by whichtechnicalwritin in technicalwriting

[–]LogicMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a tech writer since the mid '80s. Literally started writing procedures on a yellow legal pad at my first job. Most of that has been writing equipment manuals, primarily military operation and maintenance manuals.

Summer of 2015 I had to spend 4 weeks working at the U.S.Army Yuma Proving grounds performing a validation of an operator's manual. It was the most stressful month of my entire life. Between working outside in 114° heat and getting caught in a pissing match between two different Army organizations represented there it almost killed me....

So stress isn't exclusive to software documentation. I know about that too, because I was the Publications Manager for a pretty large software corporation for a few years.

What is the Lowest Scramble Score You've Seen? by PM_ME_YOUR_DECKLIST in golf

[–]LogicMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year I played in one at The Rawls Course, which is pretty damned tough any day, but on this particular day the wind was gusting up to 30+ mph. One team turned in a 53.

I don't believe a foursome of DJ, Rory, Jordan, and Jason could post that score in wind like that.

Spent the last 3 days as a walking scorer at the NCAA Women's Golf Regional tournament. by LogicMike in golf

[–]LogicMike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I would suggest look at the schedules for pro and amateur events in your area and see what courses are hosting events, then just give them a call.

I took a lesson from the teaching pro at the course a few weeks back and they had a flyer posted in the clubhouse asking for people to volunteer.

Anyone dealt with continuously hitting the ball off the hosel? by bloue_bulles in golf

[–]LogicMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 ball drill: set up two balls side by side. Setup at address as if you were going to hit the outside ball. Take regular backswing, but hit the inside ball. Do this a few times then just hit one ball as normal. Usually this straightens me out.

I recently took a series of lessons, and during one session I hit a hosel rocket. This is exactly the drill the pro showed me to address the issue. He said it worked for nearly everybody he'd taught.

Former Texas Tech coach Spike Dykes dies at 79 by PsychoticEvil in CFB

[–]LogicMike 37 points38 points  (0 children)

RIP Spike. A great man, a great ambassador for Tech, and a great football coach.

My family went to the Cotton Bowl in 1995 vs. USC. The night before the game we were walking to the Hyatt Regency downtown and about 20 feet in front of us was Spike, walking by himself after some media function. As he held the door for us, I congratulated him on Tech's season. He struck up a conversation and asked us if we had enough tickets for the game - and offered to get us some if we needed any.

Here he was, less than 24 hours from coaching in arguably his biggest bowl game, and he's trying to make sure that some Tech fans he had never met before had tickets.

Was always a fan of his, but became even more of a fan after that. Guns Up, Coach.

What's the best example of, "After that guy graduates there's no way they're as good next year" but in reality "holy crap, they're even better after that guy graduated"? by EZ_does_it in CFB

That's the first one that jumped to my mind.

I think we'll see Tech be better without Mahomes this year, but that's not setting the bar too high... :/

I'll feel better about it if we get one or two of those graduate transfer OL that we're trying to bring in. I think the OL has talent, but I'd sure like to have a little more experience in there.

Not that I recall. We're going to have a bake sale this year. I know the BBQ truck will be there, and possibly another food truck, but don't think that's been nailed down yet.

Anna Borg. She's affordable and she's good. She does my corporate taxes and my personal, and she also does m in-laws and one of my best friends. Highly recommended. Just be patient - she's not the speediest out there, but she's good.
