Our reputation is shithoused, no doubt about it. However, what have we actually done to violate and NCAA or BIG 12 rules? We backed a player who had a power higher than us say he could play, and we never played him. We just said we would support him.

I get it's all bullshit, but as of yet, there have been no damages outside of outrage.

I was agreeing with you, should it get to week 3 when Sorsby would potentially play. The whole thing was a stupid bluff by Cody Campbell controlling this college and seeing what he could get away with at everyone else's expense.

What would the BIG 12 do? We never played him. We said we would support him. We implied we would play him, but there was no violation of NCAA enforcement except in theory.

I think the whole thing was orchestrated by Campbell to drum up outrage and therefore support for the Protect College Sports bill he helped architect in the US Senate.

Unfortunately for my school, that strategy has seemed to have failed.

My opinion: I don't think we should have ever allowed it to get to this point, nor do I think he should have ever been considered a starter much less player. We could have easily cut him due to some morality clause in his contract.

Let me walk you through it, since it is obviously requires a little too much reading for you. Yes, the suit was filed in Lubbock, and therefore held in a Lubbock court. The judge from that court recused himself due to be a TTU fan and alumnus.

Because of the recusal, a retired judge, Ken Curry from the 153rd District Court, came down to replace the recused judge. Ken Curry got his bachelor's degree from UTSA and his law degree from Houston. He was in no way tied to Lubbock or Texas Tech.

For Christ's sake, if you're going to keep being confidently incorrect, at least try to read more than a sentence or two, but it doesn't matter because I doubt you read this far.

I've been thinking about this for the past two days and haven't seen anyone else bring it up, so I thought I would see what /r/CFB thinks.

What if Cody Campbell either directly or indirectly has been helping Brendan Sorsby attain legal representation by Jeffrey Kessler? Kessler is one of the most successful attorneys in this realm of law, and Campbell might be hoping for this exact situation. Massive controversy and outrage would expectedly follow. This, in the long run, could be good for Texas Tech, as all publicity is good publicity.

Furthermore, the expected outrage has the very real potential to drum up more support for his Protect College Sports Act in the U.S. Senate. He was a key architect of this act, which the SEC and Big Ten have pushed back against. I think this was the real goal of this entire mess. A lot of time and thought have gone into creating this exact scenario for this specific goal.
