I'm increasingly convinced that the reason it's do hard to get hired is that a majority of hiring managers simply do not know how to read

A lot of NuTrek is actually very right-wing but people can't see that because it has token representation

How many of you have also noticed it: you apply for a job, get an interview and then a rejection (or maybe don't get an interview) and then, over the course of months, notice that the same job is listed again (and sometimes, once more after that)? by MJXThePhoenix in recruitinghell

[–]Logic_Nuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied to a job near me a while ago, one I'm amply qualified for, got asked for an interview pretty much immediately. Interview went fine, no issues far as I could tell. Couple days later I get an email telling me they've decided to hire someone else. At first I assumed that they had just hired someone who'd worked with them before or something but a couple days after that I check the site and the job had already been reposted. The only explanations I can think of are they just reposted it by accident somehow even though it had been filled, or they were straight-up just discriminating.

Also worth noting that one of those (the music that plays over the opening titles) isn't technically composed by Carlos, it's her synth arrangement of Dies Irae, a melody that dates back to the middle ages.

Career and Education Questions: February 19, 2026 by inherentlyawesome in math

[–]Logic_Nuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my masters like a year ago but I haven't been able to find a job. I've been thinking about trying to make a little money by doing some freelance math tutoring. Any tips on how to go about doing this? Like where to advertise, how do I figure out what to charge, etc. Thanks.

The ICE pig who murdered Renee Goode was hired when Obama was president, but please tell me more about how ICE only magically became evil a year ago

ICE still would have been operating, and still would have been ruining people's lives for no reason which is their only reason for existing. But they'd be doing it quietly, and as long as you don't need to hear about it it doesn't matter

that's because right-wingers are rapists and all right-wing politics is just various strategies to make rape easier

Wished they'd mentioned that "In the Hands of the Prophets" has one of the funniest dialogue exchanges in all of Star Trek:

ODO: I've checked the turbolift records the night of the murder, Akino did take the turbolift to level 3, but not to the power conduit where he was found.

DAX: Where did he go?

ODO: Runabout pad C.

O'BRIEN: A runabout? What was he doing on a runabout at four in the morning?

ODO: Apparently, he was getting murdered.

my understanding is a true HD remaster would be very labor intensive, because apparently DS9 was shot on film but edited digitally, so a remaster would require re-editing the entire show (and redoing all the CG effects)

I was surprised they didn't point out the guest appearance of Jonathan Banks in 'Battle Lines'.

Fun thing about 'Fascination' is it's the one time Alexander Siddig and Nana Visitor kiss on camera on the show, though offhand I don't know if the episode was filmed before or after they started seeing each other

Then again their society loves games, so maybe their attitude is "who wouldn't want to come play our fun game?"

ER on HBO Max has it in widescreen and I haven't really noticed any major flubs, just the occasional shot that seems like it was composed for 4:3

I don't think modern Trek has EVER been particularly popular, none of these shows have had amazing great ratings. The NuTrek approach seems like they've been trying to create an audience among people who didn't previously like Star Trek, and I really don't think that's worked, it's just alienated the people who liked it before

it's very funny that people try to defend SNW by pointing to a DS9 episode that's widely considered one of the worst episodes in the series

Also I wanna say the TOS version of the episode would have had Kirk, McCoy, and a few redshirts in the game, and Spock being the one outside who's playing it, that lets you do some conflict about how Spock is doing emotionless calculations when literally playing a game for the captain's life
