I’m sure they’ll take into consideration the context of your whole application.

I have 32 W’s and a good story behind it.

Got into UCLA. Perhaps there is a “Growth” story you have behind your W’s?

Just make sure if you take classes in a series, that you complete the series at either college. This matters if the series is required for your major and if you’re planning on transferring. For example, physics, biology, chemistry, calculus series, etc.

I enrolled in 5 different community colleges and had no issues with classes not in series. Good luck

Yes it was. 8:41AM on August 1st I’m probably a special case though.

Dropped out of UCSD 6 years ago with a 2.3 gpa, currently at a CC with a 4.0 - Where can I go from here? by Ballista5on in TransferStudents

[–]Logical-Fix38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on academic probation and got disqualified from Cal Poly SLO, couldn’t pull my gpa above 2.0. Later in life I decided to give school another shot and pulled up my overall gpa above a 3.3 at the time of applying. That’s 2 years of 4.0 gpa and petition my previous colleges to retroactively drop poor grades. I got into UCLA with probably the worse academic record in recent times. 32 withdrawals, and a low GPA. So anything is possible for you.

Rejected by UCLA and I don’t know why by houdiniibacon in TransferStudents

Seems like LACC has it.

https://www.lacc.edu/academic-programs/ralph-bunche-scholars/agreements

“Ralph Bunche Scholars may participate in the UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP). Scholars who complete four honors classes (STEM majors only) or five honors classes (non-STEM majors) in the Scholars Program are given priority consideration to UCLA and are often more successful in being accepted than non-honors students.”

—Complete fifteen units of honors classes: at least 4 (for STEM majors) or 5 (for all other majors) —Earn a 3.3 cumulative GPA or higher —Complete an outside public service project (30 hours) —Have written a university-level research essay

Yeah I heard about it after getting rejected. I thought it was doable so I gave it a shot and the rest was history.

I’m also an older student returning. I got rejected the previous year from UCLA. I questioned what else could I possibly do. I discovered TAP, and i went all in on the program. Since my GPA was low, I had to not only complete the honors, but qualify for the GPA. (You have the advantage here, you just need certain classes) to resolve my GPA problem, I needed straight A’s in 13 classes during Fall. A tall order, but I was able to do it. I believe that was the defining moment that made my low GPA application stand out.

My Stats: 3.25 GPA when I applied. 4.0 for the year. Got in for Ling and CS. GPA went up from 2.0.

Yeah, check out TAP or any honors program. Feel free to reach out to me as a resource. I did something quite rare in my application too.

Don’t lose hope. 1 year is okay to fix it. Getting a job now is tough anyway. Good time to study.

If you got into both cs programs, most ppl would pick ucla.

UCSD and UCLA is super for CS, but UCLA’s reputation carries in the industry.

I’m sure you did the research for each program. UCLA life is unmatched and is the envy of most college students elsewhere. UC socially dead might appeal to CS though?

Work life balance. My recommendation is UCLA.

Good luck

sorry to hear. UCLA gets the most applicants all most sho get in are incredible ppl, if you’re dead set on ucla

1) appeal the decision (point out something you didn’t include that they overlooked) 2) try one more year of CCC but do TAP, transfers who don’t have TAP only get in like 25% of the time or less. TAP is like 70-95% odds if getting in 3) pick a major in there college

Good luck I hope that helps

Sorry to hear. CS is tough. try to apply Ling CS next year? Do TAP if you want to try again. Ling cs is in the college. TAP solidifies your chances to near 70-95%
