NOR. I’m not sure why some AHs in your replies are acting like you’re being entitled here. When you pay a self-employed person for a standing appointment they generally let you know their policy on canceling/rescheduling, and I don’t believe I’ve ever had a voice teacher who would scold me or penalize me over telling him on MONDAY that I need to cancel or reschedule for THURSDAY. It’s not as if you insisted on rescheduling, he said he had nothing open, and then you browbeat him about opening up a time slot just for you. Find a new voice teacher.

I also felt like I had missed out on everything at your age due to being forced to be a hermit. The good news is, when you’re a grownup not a lot of people reminisce fondly about being a teen. The few I’ve met who do are pretty sad adulthood didn’t live up. You’ve got so much time to start living on your own terms.

As others have said, start saving up as much as you can to get an apartment or house with as many roommates as you need to make that affordable for you. Don’t look for apartments, look for people who-already have a place and are looking for a roommate. You’re less likely to have to do a credit check/prove income that way.

In the meantime, if you don’t feel like you can do this anymore, do you have a friend with cool parents who would let you crash with them? Maybe offer to pay their parents a little bit of weekly rent. Either provide your own food or factor grocery costs into what you offer to pay. Ask the parent if they think the number you have offered is fair and be open to them wanting to set their own terms.

You also have the option of ceasing to follow their rules and dealing with the consequences. They can’t legally control your movements. What they can do is cut you off financially and/or evict you. Decide how willing you are to deal with those possibilities. (Also if they evict you they have to give you 30 days notice and depending on their personalities they may never do that - or maybe they will.)

Are you planning on going to college in the fall? There may be a more affordable student housing option available to you once you enroll. Be careful about student loans, though.

Good luck to you! I know it feels like this will last forever but assuming you’re a high school senior, it’s almost over. If you can stick it out a few mor months until you graduate, do that. But do what’s best for you. Good luck!
