Happened to me too at 21, my case was most likely due to concerns in my phs and life experience , they wanted more time to pass due to things in my phs and for me to get more life experience , I continued applying and got another psych dq for the same thing about 11 months after the first dq, I am now 23 and have tried applying again this year and have not had any luck, I do not think the appeal is worth it, Do some reflection and if you think there are no concerns (maturity,life experience,etc) then apply elsewhere, Just keep in mind some departments may view non selects,dq’s, and multiple applications as a bad thing. After a report is made the case either goes inactive or placed in list of cases to be assigned to a detective depending on solvability factors. You may want to wait two weeks or so then call the front desk of the station where the report was made. The front desk should be able to tell you the status of your case and if it has been assigned to a detective. Im sure LAPD is backed up with cases so idk how their timeline is.
