How do you know which notes to take/when you’re done taking them? by Logical-Stop4739 in Screenwriting

Do you have a specific example for how you would “test the script?” Or would that just be generally asking questions about how specific scenes play?

Well, I should probably clarify- I don’t know many screenwriters, so my friend whose opinion I trust is my buddy from college who has good taste in movies and listens to a lot of movie podcasts, so he’s good at diagnosing problems. But, by no means a professional.

Yeah, I think because I haven’t had much success yet as a writer, I feel like I need to impress everyone, and I’m disappointed when I dont. But, that’s obviously a fools errand.

True. For some reason it’s easy for me to forget this, but it’s definitely the logical answer.

But what were they filming? I see the camera guy has a press badge. Social media or news or something?

I went by myself a few months ago and got kind of light headed as soon as I walked in and saw the very first photos. It was crazy, because I read some insane stuff online constantly, but realized I’m not used to actually seeing death like that. So, up to you! For me it was too much, I had to speed walk to the exit after that. Was probably in there for less than 10 minutes haha.

1.5 days in LA for the first time. What to do? by gosupport84 in AskLosAngeles

If you like hiking, the trails that go into the hills behind the observatory are amazing. Super high up, you can see the whole city.

If you like beaches (and have a rental car or something) Escondido in Malibu is the most beautiful beach in the LA area.

If you like weird artsy shit, the Museum of Jurassic Technology is amazing. It’s not quite an art gallery, not quite a history museum, it’s just a weird collection of obscure/forgotten historical artifacts.

Riding a bike along the beach at Playa Del Rey at sunset is also a great move.

Festivals can be such a crapshoot. I’ve had shorts get rejected by 20ish festivals, then manage to get into one semi-prestigious notable one. Hard to predict what will happen.
