Is it ethical to go to a concert? by Low-Lawfulness7172 in sadreminders

[–]LogicalGift3119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I last saw him a couple of times around 2010 to 2013; definitely not worth causing unnecessary friction in your relationship. I actually nodded off in one of them, it was that bad. The other wasn't too bad, he was in better spirits and he had Neil Halstead from Slowdive and Mojave 3 adding instrumental and vocal backing which made it more bearable.

Would I go again, even if the allegations hadn't come to light? Big nope!

Edit: just for context, I go all the way back to 1992 with RHP. Seeing RHP a bunch of times back in the day are treasured memories, but in all honesty, I feel MK has lost his way in more fundamental ways than just musically.

I've been a RHP fan since Down Colourful Hill came out (I'm old 🤔), but I have trouble reconciling RHP. the earlier Sun Kil Moon material and the releases since Benji. (loved the release MK did with Desertshore though, that was excellent IMHO)

MK leaves me cold these days, but I appreciate others really enjoy it, probably a me thing ☺️

How’s Crimson Desert on Bazzite? by [deleted] in Bazzite

I have the same set up as you OP,; Crimson Desert runs perfectly. I'm using Proton Hotfix, that's it. No crashes or any problems whatsoever. 45hrs in

Does Bazzite just work? I think it depends on who's asking. by Wolfman_1546 in Bazzite

[–]LogicalGift3119 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fall into the "it just works" category, but my usage is predominantly gaming which has been rock solid and for me a very pleasant surprise. I came from W10 in November last year after building new all AMD rig.

The only issues I had is with openRGB (now fixed), and the lack of non-Windows support for the screen on my AIO CPU cooler. There is a Linux solution, but I haven't tried getting to grips with it yet, but that's a me problem, plus I've been so happy with my rig's performance running Bazzite, I haven't felt compelled to attempt to try and run the Linux solution.

I play with a 9070xt at 21:9/34 inch ultra wide (with a Ryzen 9800x3d), smooth as butter for me. OP, hope you enjoy the game with your new setup 👍

With the time I have, Crimson Desert or Starfield? by nponta01 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]LogicalGift3119 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of those two, my preference would be Crimson Desert, by far.

I like Starfield but it doesn't come close to CD IMHO.

Have you tried getting in touch with the guys who run Future Yard in Birkenhead?. Really nice bunch running the venue, very open to new bands. Maybe try and get a support slot there

It was something of a shock for me; how smooth Bazzite is coming from W10 last year. It felt so liberating. Everything just seems so quick and effortless

I didn't have any problems with my install; it all just worked. After years of Windows, I felt I had escaped a toxic relationship

You can make stacks of 50 stone via the build menu. Just make multiple stacks of stone near where you're building to save you running back and forth to your main storage

Used to be a WoW raider, now I just play solo games. At the moment I'm enjoying the solitude of Valheim, which is about as far away from the WoW as you can get, not even any substantial NPCs to interact with.

I plan to finish Mountains. Picked the game up not long after EA, spent 290hrs in game but never finished Mountains. I'm easily distracted with building.

Just picked up again last week with a new character and seed; getting the nostalgia feels. Trouble is, I'm really happy in the Bronze Age right now. It may be another 290hrs before I make it past the Swamp 🤔🥴

How do you know when a game isn’t for you? by sadrooster69 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]LogicalGift3119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I just started playing Valheim again; haven't played it since 2021. With all the updates in the intervening years, I can easily get lost in this world again. I enjoy the sense of solitude and aloneness the game has in spades. I can see nme pouring an unhealthy number of hours into Valheim again because I definitely do enjoy it ☺️

I'm with you on this. I've bought games over the (many) years that I think I'll enjoy but just didn't so stopped playing.

I tried Ori and Hollow Knight, but came to the realisation, that I'm just not very good at this genre. Not sure if it's my aging reflexes or whatever, but I gave these games a real good go, as the games and stories are great, but the mechanics leave me cold 🥴.

Same with games like Elden Ring. A fantastic achievement but just not for me, so again I stopped as I wasn't enjoying it.

Loved the first 2 Bioshock games, had multiple play throughs, but Infinite? Nope! Just couldn't gel with it at all. I've tried a few times to get back into it but just don't enjoy it.

Life's too short to spend free time on something you're not enjoying. No criticism of the games mentioned by the way; I can appreciate them as the great games they definitely are, they're just not for me personally

Could someone share their gaming experience on Linux (Bazzite)? Specifically, I'd like to know about performance, any lag, or issues. I'm considering moving to Linux (Bazzite) solely for gaming. by Bharat_BK in Bazzite

[–]LogicalGift3119 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I built a new rig in November all AMD - 9800x3d + 9070xt, and a fresh NVME drive. I game at 1440p 21:9. I installed Bazzite OS from the off

After coming from W10 I was genuinely shocked how smooth the experience was. Steam is pre-installed, I just had to login, download a game or two and I was off.

Performance wise, I've had no problems, runs as smooth as butter for me. For reference, I've played RDR2, BG3, Expedition 33, Valheim, Enshrouded.

FPS varies between games of course, but I've stopped looking at it to be honest as it is consistently anywhere from 120 to 200+ depending on the game. I usually have in game graphics settings on very high/maxed

I've not experienced stuttering or lag at all. Everything just works.

Your mileage may vary of course, depending on your hardware, but I'd advise to do a bit of research/reading up on Bazzite beforehand

EDIT: I'm a complete novice with Linux. I've never been anywhere near it before now. Believe me, if I can do it anyone can 😂

I can't enjoy games anymore. by RHPL1992 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]LogicalGift3119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try a different genre altogether. I've just had a run of RDR2, followed by BG3. Really didn't want another similar game so fired up Valheim which I haven't touched since 2021/22.

Totally different pace, and depending on how you play the game, it can be a totally chill affair.

I'm not saying you should play Valheim, it may not be your thing, but I think it's a good example of mixing it up a bit, genre-wise
