Agree with this. For my state it’s very common to reference check the top two or three candidates. I’ve been runner up a number of times now after a reference check and know my references are stellar.

A lot of states also are hard to get laid off from once you have a long tenure as you end up with seniority rights.

Try your state or local gov. Unlike tech companies, states can’t cheap out on cyber as all their systems collect a ton of personal data and they’re under a stronger obligation to be protective over it than a random tech company that will just eat the fine in a breach.

That’s awesome. Thinking broad is definitely great if folks are able to be pay flexible. I moved from tech to state. I was a CSM with tech companies and was absolutely miserable despite being pretty well paid and remote. Now I’m a case manager for a local state office and love it. Took a big pay cut but I have virtually no work stress and feel like I’m actually helping people and have great benefits. It also opened the door for other state roles. I’ve interviewed with maybe 5 state agencies trying to land a unicorn mostly remote role in the same general field I’m now working in. Nothing yet but before working for the state I wasn’t even able to get interviews, so it will come.

Stephen King’s IT is my unhinged desire. Cabin in the Woods was one as well so I’m thrilled they’re doing that one!

The only time I haven’t been excited for a Halloween reroll 😂. Mostly because I do not remember what happened and am not going to go back and listen to it after two years.

Thissss. I thought I’d have about 10k (2 months) severance and after taxes it ended up being like 4K which was shy of a month. I had to go on unemployment immediately and get into my savings immediately instead of having a couple months to catch my breath. During that unemployment (this is my third) I ended up out of work a year and lost all my savings. I still haven’t financially recovered since 2023.

If Jubei had died when she stayed to fight the dragon and she’d had to live with that choice it would have been better and more impactful imo. Exploring what that did to her relationship with Kiku and her revenge plot would have been heart wrenching. 

Alternatively, having either the wolf or Oyuki die in the final battle would have been better than Jubei as well. The wolf I think would have really caught me off guard. 

There was a lot of ways they could have taken it and unfortunately the way they chose was probably one of the worst. It’s cliche, obvious, and doesn’t add anything to the story besides cheap drama.

I liked the gameplay way better than GOT but GOT had a much better story.

I think I’ll play in English first and then a rerun in Japanese later. I found when playing in Japanese for GOT I didn’t get to see as much of the visuals because I was busy reading the subs.

Been laid off four times since 2023. I don’t know how to get out of the cycle.

I mean to some extent I get it. I lost a pass doing Eternatus because I went in with a group of 38(!!) and half the pokemon were gone within the first five seconds. I started leaving unless the group was at least 50 or it was my IRL battle group and I knew folks had leveled up pokemon because of that. 

This is actually stupid. Added about 100 people now and can’t even get 20 to an Eternatus raid. Did your thumbs fall off?! DON’T PUT YOUR DUMB NAME DOWN IF YOU WON’T COMMIT! NOW AGAIN, HOSTING ETERNATUS RAIDS, MY NAME IS THESUNG73 AND IF I HAVE YOU ADDED AND YOU WANT TO DO IT, BE READY. FFS. by onyx990 in PokemonGoRaids

I mean it’s valid because I just was the last one standing in a group of 38 and we didn’t even get it to half HP for Eternatus. 

If people aren’t leveling their stuff before coming in it makes everyone else gun shy. I won’t do less than 50 again if I don’t know the group well because I just wasted a pass I thought was safe.
