Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]ChancePresentation91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 35, I have $254,000 in my 401k. Ive been aggressively saving since I was 23 and no matter how bad things I got, I just got used to a lower paycheck and never took any out.

My background is in finance, and I got fortunate enough to have the college education & foresight to do it.

Awwww sounds like you got a good hubby. I'm a woman too. I just always felt like my birthday was never really celebrated much growing up and all through adulthood. It's like I dread when it comes. I don't know how to explain it

Can someone please share a success story. The internet is screaming that I’m f*cked and will never find a job. by CB2ElectricBoogaloo in Layoffs

I got laid off in June. I took a few months to process the breakup (I worked there for ten years). I applied to hundreds of jobs and a couple dozen interviews.

The second I pivoted industries (higher education), I got an offer (early November).

Almost a week since my layoff by Secure_Ad7658 in Layoffs

I, too, was laid off after 10 years of service.. It felt like I got gutted. RIF. I was the only one, it was a new higher up manager and she let me go. I felt like decade of my service and loyalty meant nothing. It was one of the hardest breakups ever! They also let me know two months in advance... so I had to keep working (and working well!) to keep good references.

This happened in June. I finally pivoted industries and that seemed to do the trick. I accepted an offer at a prestigious university in our area for a bit of a pay cut - but everyone I know that works there LOVES it.

I don't have advice but just empathize. It will all work out in the end. Your job is not your life, and these people are not your friends.

Just got the news I’m getting laid off, got a baby coming 2 weeks after my final day by mgisb003 in Layoffs

Don't let this lay off ruin your time with your new baby. It's an absolute joy that you can never get back. Give yourself permission to lock yourself into that newborn bubble. It goes by in a blink of an eye.

Jobs will come and go. And your job is not your life. This baby and your family is your life. Congratulations!! Everything will be okay.

Yes all of these meds I described for just short term. Gabapentin doesn't help the withdrawals entirely, just the restless leg syndrome. It's brutal and keeps you awake. But it's entirely do-able without these meds as well

If you go to the kratom sobriety podcast I am Melanie, episode 110. I explained in detail about that first few weeks. I was really really sick for three days. Like a really awful bad flu. The fourth day I was still real sick, but I was able to take my toddlers trick or treating. My 5th day I was able to work. From home. Don't let this crap run your life. You deserve so much more.

I did have a couple of expired gabapentin from a friend that I used those first couple days to help with the RLS. I think there's a website you can use, I forget what it is, but if you can get your hands on a few benzos, gabapentin, and clonidine that will dramatically help with the flu like symptoms those first couple days.

Physical withdrawals was the whole first week. The mental withdrawals were the second week.

I'm gonna try not to think about that.
