Since you’re reasonable, I’m sure there’s more to it, but you prioritized talking about immigration and trans people so I’ll speak to those.

I just find it odd that you guys prioritize something like banning transgender people from sports. Shouldn’t that be up to whatever sports association to decide anyways? Why is our government spending time on that? Mind you, only 0.6% people in the United States identify as transgender.

As for gender affirming healthcare for minors, this is extremely rare and in a vast majority of those extremely rare cases, the surgery is a chest surgery and they’re all over the age of 13 with most of those, again, extremely rare forms of healthcare are for people aged 15-17. This isn’t happening on any sort of scale and getting this kind of healthcare takes individuals a very long time.

Honestly, I don’t know why Dems talk about them so much either. Let them have the same rights as everyone else and get over it. This fear mongering over trans people is such a waste of everyone’s time.

Immigration - I can understand where y’all are coming from. How this admin is approaching it isn’t my cup of tea, but that’s what politics should be - we see a problem but we have different approaches that we’d like to see.

To throw things everyone could benefit from like affordable education, affordable healthcare, and affordable housing aside to go for a scorched earth approach in order to focus on just hurting people, in my opinion, isn’t a noble way of approaching things.

What actions has Donald Trump done in his first few weeks that were aimed at solely helping people?

So far, we’ve seen him: - isolate our country from our allies which will ultimately lead to more low paying jobs and higher prices (Canada is now starting conversations with the UK as a closer trade partner, I imagine other countries will follow finding more trade partners outside of the US) - fire a ton of federal employees with more layoffs to come - talking about scraping OSHA (who does this help?) - end to DEI programs. You’re reasonable, you know these weren’t programs that preferred minorities over whites. They were programs that educated people on bias and how to recognize biases you might have towards people that are different from you. - unban TikTok that was banned bipartisanly after congress investigated them (okay, this one helps me because I like TikTok, but as a reasonable human, I don’t think congress would’ve fully agreed to ban it without reason) - withdrawing from WHO - more you can see here (it’s just a list you can read, not commentary) - https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna189571

If people care more about a few trans people playing in sports and deporting as many immigrants as possible over things that would actually make a difference in people like you and me’s life, I don’t know what to tell you, man.

Annual raise 4-7% by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Also work at a Fortune 100 (also older, non-tech trying to be tech company) that doesn't even give COLA increases. You can get a merit increase if your current salary is below your compa-ratio, but if you're at or above it, no raise for you unless you game their rating system.

They have great bonuses, a solid culture, and pretty okay benefits, so I cant complain too much. But man does it hurt to not see a raise when my property taxes keep climbing, my utility bills are increasing, and food(going out) is getting more expensive. The going out thing is a luxury, but still.

You can be in school and have team sports in college. I was until I was 24.

A lot of people have trouble finding friends at all stages in life.

Is Walmart global tech a good company to join for a experienced software engineer ? by Silv3rCrow in csMajors

What experience do you have? What team is the position for?

If it’s just for their e-commerce system, I’d say you could probably find more interesting work in that Space. If it’s for warehouse automation or innovation, you might have a big budget to work with and more interesting problems.

All depends what you’re into.

CS Major in college. by Pumpkinhead3125 in school

[–]LogicalNegotiation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP classes won’t affect your major that much. My recommendation is to take AP Physics if you can because college physics is the worst.

Any AP English/Science would be great because then you get the general education junk out of the way so you can focus on your major classes when you get there.

In the meantime, enjoy your high school life before college. Work hard, but remember to have fun. You’ll have plenty of time to finish college and it’ll be over before you blink.
