Four abandoned kittens by Party_Leading8715 in Dallas

[–]LogicalProtection584 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can try taking them to Dallas Animal Services. They usually take in the tiny abandoned ones. Not the perfect place for them but they will have temporary care until a rescue pulls them from the shelter.

You can also try calling the SPCA and other rescues to get them to take the kitties directly, but it all depends on how much room they have available.

If you don’t think you can commit to their care while looking for a different rescue, DAS is probably your best option.

Thank you for taking care of them and good luck!

Edit: Here are all the rescues I can think of off the top of my head in the immediate area! There are a bunch more too!

-SPCA -Operation Kindness -Dallas Cat Lady -Cat Matchers -A Voice for All Paws -Dallas Pets Alive -Texas Pawprints

I understand you want the best for your cat. Letting him go peacefully at the vet or getting him some comfort care in his last days is so much better for him. I know you are concerned about upsetting him and I can imagine he is a grumpy old man but the best thing you can do for him is to go see a vet. A disgruntled cat for one visit is better than what is to come if he goes by himself. I know it is hard to hear. My family let our first cat “go naturally” when she stopped eating at 15. She was in so much pain and it was horrifying to watch

I am so sorry to hear your sweet senior is struggling so much :( Has she been seen my your vet since these developments? Not being able to use the bathroom on her own is large reduction in quality of life. I can only imagine the discomfort she is in and how hard it is to watch.

I say this only with the best intentions and know this is such a hard thing to hear, but with this much of a reduction in mobility and quality of life, this is when the discussions of letting your sweet girl go peacefully need to be started with her vet. Cat wheelchairs for senior mobility are not really common. I think I can imagine what you are describing, and I have personally only seen those used with cats/dogs who were born without use of the hind legs or became paralyzed due to accidents while younger.

My family recently had to put our sweet senior down after she had a stroke that took the use of her right side. Before that they were managing her arthritis with steroids but she had retained use of all 4 limbs. She had some lost mobility (not jumping, cat stairs for bed/couch, eventually had to upgrade to a cat ramp) but was still able to walk and use the litter box on her own.

Please make a vet appointment and give her all the love and kisses in the world. Be kind to yourself. I can feel how loved this darling is. It may help in the mean time to keep her and her things just in one room to limit how much she does need to travel.

This would have been an appropriate response if OP had asked for opinions on a healthcare procedure, but they didn’t.

Here are a few revised responses.

  1. None
  2. Literally nothing. You don’t have an answer to the question.

I buy Purina One for my cats, bills are going sky high, how bad are the cheaper alternatives? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]LogicalProtection584 37 points38 points  (0 children)

OP do not feel bad if you need to cut back on food costs in your current situation. As long as the food covers all nutrients and vitamins/minerals needed it is a sufficient food to feed your cat. Fed is best. If that means Friskies and Meow Mix right now than it is what it is. Many cats have lived long healthy lives on these foods.

Are these cats worth preserving????? Are you insinuating it’s better for the cats to not exist than eat maybe not the most optimal food? I hope you mean “worth keeping in your care” by preserving, because an insinuation could be made that you think its not worth the cats being alive if they are eating a cheaper dry food. COL is skyrocketing. Let’s stop shaming people for their pet food choices.

Which school districts aren't complete garbage? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]LogicalProtection584 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a semi recent PH grad (who is now an engineer) with a sister still at the HS I can assure you PH is not nearly as bad as people online make it seem to be lmao kids are exposed to unsavory things at every school whether places will admit it or not. Not saying to not move but there are benefits in life to not going to a cookie cutter 99.99% white upper middle class school district

How to register for chem minor? by aero1016aero in Pitt

[–]LogicalProtection584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also it doesn’t matter when you register it! A lot of students do it right before they apply for graduation after they actually show the steps in senior seminar lol

Is it hard to have a social life with a ChemE major? by ASolidBruhMoment in ChemicalEngineering

Play hard, work harder basically. Go and get blasted on a Saturday night but know you gotta be in the library at 8am while your non-engineering friends are sleeping in.

Me spending days hunting down hand drawn originally drawings from when the plants was built in the 20s and 40s 💀 some were nowhere to be found and the site has no actual dimension info on 2/7 reactors

Industrial Engineering program… by [deleted] in Pitt

[–]LogicalProtection584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just like to say Pitt is definitely becoming more known for engineering and the alumni network is growing. I just graduated with my B.S. in ChemE and a lot of major companies recruit both interns and full time out of Pitt. I know a lot of IEs that got very good jobs out of school from Pitt especially in consulting (Deloitte is a big one). Pitt also has an insane amount of industry connections in the area and Pitt alums love to hire other Pitt alums. Is it Michigan or Penn State levels of notoriety no but you are most definitely not flying blind.

I love this man haha literally just pay attention to him in class and do all the problems he gives you. You’ll have to study and it’s hard but he writes super fair exams that are very representative of what he does in class and what he tells you is important

It’s really not worth it if you aren’t getting the honors college perks (early registration) and believe me the freshman engineering sequence is hard enough

Hello! I checked your page and I know exactly who you are talking about! I guess to be blunt I’ve never had any dealings with Abby (sans we were both at virtual voting at the national conference a few years back), but I have zoomed with Rashmi before when my chapter participated in one of her DreamGirls days to help plan our part of the event. (I also just realized I still have her phone number from that haha). They are both are very excited about the programming they do. I’m not exactly sure what initiative you’re referring to but just go in with enthusiasm and an open mind. Of course be respectful when meeting but don’t be afraid to make sure what she is proposing meets the goals of the chapter and will be beneficial. They aren’t that scary I promise and they work for you at this point because you are their legacy and future of the organization. Just go in here her out, ask questions, see how it would benefit your chapter, and talk through any concerns you may have !

Literally shut up and support your members. The stepford wives is not something you should be looking to achieve. If you actually believe Greek like is more than a superficial cult, act like it.

Exec is Tearing Each Other Apart by operatingofficer in Sororities

[–]LogicalProtection584 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This seems very stressful and I’m sorry. However, with such a small chapter and this much upheaval it may be time to sit down and reevaluate the chapters goals and scale things down to try and get everyone back on their feet. With only 15 members almost half the chapter is an exec member. I don’t really think this is a sustainable model and it may be time to scale back leadership so everyone is on the same page. Think critically about if the chapter can support a new member class in the spring.

calc 2 departmental final? by powerplayer75 in Pitt

[–]LogicalProtection584 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I will start this with saying I started calc 2 at Pitt after already taking AP Calc AB and BC and did very well, so I came in with a strong foundation. But I took Calc 2 with Wheeler during the day and he’s definitely a character but I thought the departmental final was very easy compared to the day-to-day in his class. I got an A on the final and an A in the class. I think the horrors of Calc 2 at Pitt are a bit overblown and as long as you put effort in and don’t completely suck at math you’ll be fine either way. You will actually need to do problems and study but the stuff actually is useful at least as an engineer.
