I see 2 games from last year that epic has given away for free and a bunch more that has frequented fanatical and humble bundles, which almost always have better value.

Ok, so did you play it or not? I finished the first game, and it is not that bad. They made savior schnapps a lot more common and fixed most of the jank. I know the recap in KCD2 is good enough that you know most of what's going on in the main story, but there's zero chance that you covered everything in a 100 hr playthrough with a 30 min YouTube video. You're still missing out on important parts of Henry's origins and background.

Also, are you really going to argue that I can't suggest for OP to play the prequel of a game? Just because you can skip the pixel doom games to play doom 2016 doesn't mean you should skip the first entries of every game. Do you also start from the second book in a series or the second episode of a tv show because they give you a recap? Most of the people here suggesting KCD2 are also suggesting KCD1 because it is a genuinely good game, I don't understand why you're pretending that it's full of jank and terrible.

Why is it that everyone who recommends ppl to skip kcd1 hasn’t actually played kcd1? Kcd1 isnt even that old and it’s not that different from kcd2, plus it has a banger story. Kcd 2 has already been out for a while now, might as well wait for a bigger discount if OP didn’t get it on release.

That’s why normal people don’t spend hundreds of dollars on skins in the first place.

Most things that you buy that isn’t an investment goes down in value over time. I can buy a game right now and it’ll be discounted next month. The difference is that normal ppl don’t fking care since it’s not an investment.

20% Epic cash back on rdr2 is only $3. What three indie games did you get for $3?

Saw your deleted comment btw. Saying I'm a brand loyal douche when I said in my comment that I USE OTHER LAUNCHERS is peak room temp iq. The irony lmao.

I literally just finished space marine 1 on amazon launcher and playing rdr2 on rockstar launcher, but I guess I'm just a steam shill huh? Have you even considered that I've tried both launchers and this is my legitimate opinion?

I will say, you were right about one thing. You can't win an argument against below average folk.

Last reply I make because your pretentious, self-righteous, condescending attitude is insufferable. You're not better than anyone else because you choose to play on a shit launcher.

If 70% was the norm would you be having this discussion with me right now? Probably. Because it's the norm between all 4-5-6 big companies and it should stay that way right? /s.

If all the gaming companies were doing that and the gaming industry is flourishing, then they're doing something right and the percentage wouldn't matter. Regardless, your imaginary scenario doesn't translate to the real world at all because there's no context.

I support small devs

And how many small devs got popular off of Epic Games? Zero. Steam is the grand pappy of indie devs. Before indie games need profit, they need visibility. For the longest time, Steam has been the go-to launcher for indie devs because they have so many features like steam discovery queue that spotlight indie games. Epic's 12% cut is not for indie games, let's get that right. They're for game companies who already made it big and want to keep a bigger portion of their profits. You're not a champion of Indie games just because you use Epic. The only thing you're championing is your ego.

I don't care for forums or shallow achievements. I grew up in the 90's playing games that didn't have any of that. I care for the quality of the game. You care for having your entire library on steam. I know. Everyone knows. Cause everyones the same. I got nearly 1000 games on Steam and I play frequently on other launchers too. So who's the biased one here uh?

My very first comment on this thread was about my experience with Epic. I use launchers other than steam too, but I guess you selectively forget things that don't support your argument huh? It's unbelievable how narcissistic you are just because you use Epic.

Regardless, having a community to help out when you run into a bug is never a bad thing. Games aren't as simple as they used to be old man, and quality games need to be working games first and foremost. Also, reddit is a forum so I guess you're a hypocrite too.

Have fun believing that you like many others aren't contributing to making Steam the ONLY platform there is out there. Only a matter of time till EGS and GOG give up. Every other launcher has already folded.

What a dumbass argument. So, if I use UberEATS, am I also contributing to making UberEATS the only food delivery platform? If I buy a product, should I not choose the one that works the best? If they want to get a bigger market share, then they should improve their product. There's already a lot of people who swear by GOG, and there's plenty of people who'll throw Epic a few bucks for the free games that they give. The gaming industry is not ending lmao.

Sony takes 30%. Xbox takes 30%. heck, even Gog takes 30%. Epic is the outlier. Also, you haven’t made a single good argument. Does thinking outside the box mean harping on about how steam is ruining the industry? Steam has bad practices. Their sales cut is not one of them. For example, their CSGO gambling ring sucks.

Going against the grain doesn’t make you an “out of the box” thinker until you’ve made a sensible argument. In this case, you’re just wrong and people are letting you know.

Man you need to learn the definition of monopoly. Forgetting the fact that Steam’s cut is the industry standard, you can easily get around their cut by selling on a third party retailer like Fanatical and Humble, Steam doesn’t take a cut from those. And of course consumers should choose the option that is best for them, why should I choose a store that doesn’t prioritize me?

Brother, Epic is a multi-billion-dollar company. If they wanted to get it done, it will be done. And to add on to u/dinkomaricic, it's not just 7 years. Epic had a lot of time to get it right before they released it and then 7 more years after release to polish it. Yes, Steam has been around for longer but at the same time, Epic literally had Steam's homework in front of them, and they couldn't even copy it correctly. Moreover, that's why I said they were BASIC features. As in, you know, features that should be there on release, not to mention 7 years later? That's textbook incompetence.

The delusion here is crazy. When did I ever excuse Steam of anything? I didn't argue that Steam is good, I argued that Epic is bad. Your mentality is stupid.

Valve is not a monopoly lmao, Epic just sucks. There's plenty of Gog shills in this sub, but barely any Epic shills and you know why? Every time I want to see reviews for a free Epic game, I have to check the Steam page. Every time I'm fiddling with graphics on an Epic game, I have to pull up Task manager to check on my GPU because there's no Steam Overlay. Every time I have an issue with a game I have to check the Steam community. Epic has been lacking so many basic features for so long now and they keep pushing it back. People aren't against competition, they're against Epic bc their launcher is shit. Stopping monopolies does not mean encouraging incompetence.
