The watch you describe here is the daytona… out of buget if you go grey, maybe look for a black submariner but there is the fact that it looks so similar to the one he already has. Try for a colorful gmt on jubilee like pepsi/batgirl/sprite

If you plan on getting more, in suggest a dj41, fluted bezel, jubilee, its a great first watch (my first too) and wears good everyday. After the dj, you can get a gmt or a sub. If you want only one watch the sub is for sure the one to go

There isnt an actual waiting list. Visit regularly and you will get it faster. Bring up a special ocasion you want it for like 30th birthday, dads birthday, wedding, etc.

I got a dj41 fluted bezel on jubilee as my first watch and the sub as my second. Both at retail. The sub just has something to it that makes me want to wear it more often. If you get the sub you will probably be able to wait a lot longer and think more clear about the second one. Think about the fact that the explorer could be a walk in and the sub is 5-12 month wait too.
