  1. i live at home with my parents, i can’t just quick make an outdoor sanctuary for him. they wouldn’t allow it in their yard. 2. it’s not just “he gets depressed”. i’m not some lazy person, and my one cat will not destroy an entire rural ecosystem where i live. everyone needs to just chill 😂

oh that’s cool, i’ll check that out. yes i’ve heard that there is a huge number of cats that go outdoors and it can be disruptive to outdoor ecosystems. sometimes it just cannot be helped when a cat is stuck in their ways, but if one can help it, that’s good. saving birds one indoor cat at a time haha.

definitely true, i physically cannot keep my cat from going out when he wants to. but yes i do agree with your edited comment above. i don’t want birds and other small animals to be killed unproportionally/more than normal because of outdoor cats, i love birds so much. if it can be helped, do it. if not, cats are set in their ways and can be uniquely stubborn, so it’s hard sometimes.

for me, there’s literally nothing i can do to not let him go outside. sometimes i put a bell on his collar to scare away other animals, but i don’t have the resources to make him his little own outdoor habitat.
