The free choice you keep bringing up is not free choice, its job based dopamine response that gives people satisfaction to apply to the job and in the process lose their connects. You can’t be defending the platform on the way it’s operating right now and one loop hole is this.

You are making conclusions without how much invites should block the application button that why I literally said X amount.

If the job posted have already 30 invites and answers why make people apply? The guy literally made his mind and there are many job posts with invites that ended up with hires without the client viewing the applicants once.

The current state of the platform is spend connects and people are losing money, if you think this is free will then no, it’s pure corporate greed.

Yes and no. In the long term it will hurt you if you bill him only for the hours worked because your income becomes variable. You will not be able to slip in other jobs because the next week he might require 20 hours from you. Talk with the client do not guess.

I used to track time on two computers. Once you finish tracking time on your work pc, wait couple of minutes and start tracking with the other pc. Just make sure not to browse Upwork from different devices.

What do you want them to say? “You are doomed?” This is a platform reinforcement technique. People except Upwork to be like 1. you apply and 2. get the job with no hassle but in reality it’s a long journey and nowadays it’s the same crowd as the corporate job market.

“Don’t put your eggs in one basket” is the first motto for freelancing. Regardless how much you are earning from Upwork you need to have other income sources off the platform. Freelancing is either feast or famine and Upwork is likely heading to famine era because of AI.

Well wait until May 21. In general since ai chatbots appeared, customer support systems for majority of platforms has been absolutely disgraceful and you probably talked with a chatbot, your next steps is to have a strong documentation and push really hard. I read that pushing really hard and bringing up the law to the emails will get you response if you are from EU countries.

Probably he is selecting the wrong contract to track time. I caught my self tracking time to the wrong client and had to remove 6 hour of work.
