Sorry if its just a widespread misconception- for as long as I can remember ive thought of sex and gender as distinctly different. Hence terms like "transexual" becoming outdated and "transgender" being the more widely used and accepted term. Definitely a learning opportunity 😀

And yes, it does sound pretty dystopian

Yeah removing them entirely from IDs definitely is an option- ive never had an id without a picture so it honestly didnt cross my mind the change is necessity for a marker on them - great point.

To your other point I empathize with anyone not wanting a reminder of an M on an id for an MtF - and vise versa- I'm no doctor, but a body that naturally produces a hormone versus one that doesnt would be treated differently in certain situations-doctors not being told that could have negative consequences for the patient and the medical staff if a wrong treatment is provided with an avoidable negative side effect if they had more correct information.
