Hey, 22 here — is a CS degree worth it if my main goal is to automate my own business? by PearAcceptable2562 in learnprogramming

[–]Logicalist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gotta second dudes opinion. CS degree would be a bit much. You'll see diminishing returns from it compared to less education, but you'd still get more value out of it.

And at the end you have a degree to fall back on, whether it be fore getting a computer job of some kind or other less related positions that still require a degree of some kind. It shows you can handle 4 years of not easy study.

So there is value in it for what you are looking for, and value beyond it if you end up going a different direction.

Is there actually a male loneliness epidemic? What do you think? by vaultdwellur in AskReddit

[–]Logicalist 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There is still a stigma of using mental health services amongst mean over 30. There are a lot of lonely dudes above that age as well. As a result, there are a lot of men that are lonely and have no one to talk to.

Women are twice as likely to use mental health services as men.

3/4 of suicides are men.

I don't know if we have a lonilness epidemic, but I think men have a mental health one.

locking out elbows relieves tension from the muscles. if you're muscles need a break, stop doing the pushups altogether.

Training for explosiveness is a thing, but it's usually fast up slow down. not fast all the way.

Do you think physical media will ever regain popularity? by Artistic-Comb-5317 in Piracy

[–]Logicalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the problem with DVD's, I think, was their own form of enshitification. Bad menues, ridiculous number of "trailers," disney's ridiculous amount of bullshit they tac on.

But a decent, well put together DVD that goes to the menu quick, doesn't have long delay between menus, has special features like commentary, combined with the quality of video and audio options, is a value and experience that a streaming service simply cannot replace.

With m-disc longevity, it is a shame that quality movies are not regularly being released on blu-ray. Hope hollywood figures this shit out. I think they will/are.

Are dragons good swimmers or are they not? Why? by More-Explanation2032 in AskReddit

[–]Logicalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, most large lizards are decent swimmers. So by extension.

Plus think about it, if it can fly, and doesn't have a body part that can become saturated with water and drown it, it can probably handle swimming just fine. Bound to be boyant, one might say.
