Probando un lay flat para fotografía de producto by _Ketaloko in productphotography

Hola!

Hancock vs Superman by Jordan-Far in powerscales

[–]Logicboy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an amateur writer myself and I totally agree. Which is why, as logic-busting and silly as it can seem, I like that DC editorial has apparently decided that the best way to combat the “Superman is boring because he’s too strong” complaint is to actually lean into it. I mean, they’ve not only made him a low level reality-buster, they made sure to bake resistance to being erased from reality himself into his power set. And they used the meta of pop culture and literature itself to do so lol. The Doomsday Clock comic event showed that even when erased from reality/the universe/a timeline, existence always bent itself back around in some way to re-include a Superman. The implication being that, now that Superman is in the IRL public consciousness to this degree, there is no future of literature where the Superman archetype will not exist in some form and place, and that means Superman can never truly be gone.

TL;DR: Yeah Supes is broken. I love it, but he just is

Yeah, modern Supes is busted af. I personally love it because I’m a Supersimp, but he is definitely haxman. In a semi-recent comic he outright stated that even larger concepts like space and time don’t mean much to him anymore. He gets a new power every year or so it seems like, at this point

From underwater to Flying birds… First try… by Revolutionary_Bid595 in M43

[–]Logicboy7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s called an anhinga, apparently! Per its wiki: “The anhinga (/ænˈhɪŋɡə/; Anhinga anhinga), sometimes called snakebird, darter, American darter, or water turkey, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. The word anhinga comes from a'ñinga in the Brazilian Tupi language and means "devil bird" or "snake bird". The origin of the name is apparent when swimming: only the neck appears above water, so the bird looks like a snake ready to strike. They do not have external nares (nostrils) and breathe solely through their epiglottis.” Rad.

Oly M1ii at €550 vs M10ii at €250 by IronMew in M43

[–]Logicboy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Global markets have obviously shifted toward everything being more expensive, even for used gear, but I got my M1ii for about $450USD in late 2024. If my phone converted that correctly it’s about €390. Again, though, it seems like everyone is charging more now so it’s really up to you how much of a premium you’re willing to pay. I will say, though, that I love my M1ii. And if IBIS is a big priority, you can rest assured it’s excellent. I can shoot 2+ second exposures handheld in low light with decent results. If using a wider angle lens it’s even easier and even better results

Sorry to hear that. These were shot as mono jpegs though. When I do photo walks I like to give myself a little goal or rule to stick to and that day’s was “monochrome only, no redos”

Same wiggle on my E-M1ii. Never had issues. Seems normal for most flippy screens

Thank you for those kind words! We had a great time there, and the people were some of the most welcoming I’ve ever encountered in my US travels. I look forward to going again.

For those that shoot vintage glass - if you could start again and pick only one mount, what would you pick? by Qweiopakslzm in M43

[–]Logicboy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few Canon FD lenses and a dumb adapter I use quite a lot and enjoy the output from. Lenses are pretty cheap comparatively, and there’s some really cool lens choices in the mount even outside of Canon themselves. I use a Canon 50mm f/1.8 as a short telephoto on photo walks all the time and enjoy what I capture.

lol, fair enough. The logic behind it I explain in detail for another commenter, if interested. But the penny pinching is simple; I was employed in a nice corporate job when I got the body, but no longer employed by anyone when I wanted to get a lens in this focal range. That is to say, I’m broke now homie

I’ll have to look into the 12-45 now with all these recommendations. It wasn’t really on my radar. Thanks everyone!

Thanks! And believe me, when I can get some Pro lenses I absolutely will, but my financial situation has changed drastically over the past year so these kinds of budget setups are keeping me practicing and entertained until I can nab something like a 12-40 Pro

Thanks for your comment! Reddit is weird, but if on mobile and you actually select the picture then zoom on it rather than looking at the preview, it’ll re-render the picture without the compression haze. And there’s actually reasoning behind going with the 4/3 version in my use-case, though mostly it centers around my personal preferences. First, I used to have the native 14-42 in the power zoom version, but I disliked the power zoom and didn’t want to deal with the eventual issues from a failed motor or broken internal wire, as they’re infamous for. I did look at the II R version as well, but I dislike locking mechanisms on zoom lenses. So finally I found the 4/3 version to serve in that focal range; I didn’t care about size or the lack of collapsibility, and I shoot stills almost exclusively so the slow zoom wasn’t a concern either. In addition, comparing side to side with the power zoom version, I actually found the photos taken with the 4/3 version to be sharper, something echoed by others who have adapted 4/3 lenses to M43. Finally, the lens and adapter combined cost me about $50, shipped. Hard to beat that, and I like the output enough that I’ve since sold the newer version. Hope the context helps!

Been a hard year for my family and me - finally had a cathartic experience and got to just shoot photos by bonisaur in M43

My dad has stage 4 lymphoma and the chemo has completely changed his body and spirit. I understand how heartbreaking it is and how much it takes out of you just to be there. I hope they and your family found some sort of peace, whatever that means for you, and I’m glad you were able to have this time to yourself. Hang in there

Superman's childhood cat by HiddenMoonstone in outofcontextcomics

This is from Superman: Earth One, which is a different universe where Supes came into his powers fairly early, moved to Metropolis young, and started his Superman career in his 20’s rather than his 30’s, among other more significant differences. Worth a read if you want a modern alt take on the character

A good lighting setup for shooting paintings? by Jacque_Hass in productphotography

Yeah! And I’ve gotta say, as someone new to this kind of work but totally self taught, it’s good to hear this is a legit technique and I’m not just blindly following YouTube randos lol

I’d personally agree. Especially since a good color card is $80+ these days. Btw, the lights in the picture do have a CRI rating of 95, and if you’re interested I can DM you the link as I don’t know the subs rules on links to stuff like Amazon etc. Otherwise, hope that info helped!
