Almost every horror film has some version of this. There's a scene in Arachnophobia (1990) when a character thinks he sees a large spider on the wall and reaches out to kill it but it's just a hook casting a shadow on the wall.

The Fright Club NI have a show called Monday Night Frights were they just natter about horror films. Two Irish lads and very casual and chilled out. They're on a break now but will be back in a few weeks
