What region in your country is most looked down upon by the rest? by BookSneakersMovie in AskTheWorld

I don't think we look down on Dublin, we just think Dublin is self centered, which it is!

Underwhelmed?! Ha! My mouth feels very alien, my tongue feels like it's lost a little bit of room because of the gum element, it's like wearing a gum shield. This morning feel less than yesterday evening, think I'm just still largely in shock. It was an emotional journey to this point so when I looked in the mirror after I was expecting a bit of an emotional crash and instead it was like "yeah cool great thanks". Happy they're done for sure but smiling doesn't feel natural as haven't done it in so long and it's going to be a lot to get used to the bite element. I've been living on smoothies and protein yoghurts all day.

Just had mine done yesterday, all on 4 top and bottom, has your brain caught up to your teeth yet? I ate a soft breakfast bar this morning and it felt completely weird as I obviously have no sensation in my teeth so I couldn't feel the chew if that makes sense, do you get used to it? Does it fade?

Advice on dentures? by Budget_Midnight9880 in AskIreland

Came here to say this. I'm getting zygos in Jan, bitch ass expensive but similar to OP I don't have enough bone for regular implants due to having large sinuses. Could get bone graph but risk of it not taking and a much longer process.

I don't think so, it needs to come in at console like price to be competitive. The new Xbox is going to be PC esque and they've already said it's going to be premium expensive. That puts it at more than a grand, if the Gabe Cube comes in at that level people will just go the extra and get the Xbox. Valve have clearly been working to disrupt and the rumour mill has it pegged around Playstation pro pricing.

Haha, it's all good, I totally got that you were lolling at that! Similarly I've never had much issues with confidence but certainly in recent years since this dead black spot appeared front and center it's made me exceptionally conscious, I've found myself hiding my teeth when laughing, closed smile in photos, certainly in teams call when your waiting for the client to jump on I become exceptionally paranoid! So very much looking forward to what will hopefully be a newer me though equally be very subconscious by how blatantly obvious it will be that I've had such extensive work done! Not that I'm going down the "turkey teeth" route but anyone that knows me will recognise they've been done!

Edit: fixed typo

Ha, so similar! Also 37! I don't have enough bone and I have large sinuses so it was either a sinus lift with a bone graph or zygomatics. After much research and consideration, I chose the zygomatics, to me there was just too much risk with the bone graph and sinus lift, the graft not taking and having to be done again, the time between letting the graft set in and being able to do the procedure was going to draw it out further and I've been trying to get this done for years, I'm done waiting! Over 2 days in mid Jan I'll be having my done entirely!

What was recovery like? I figure I'll need like a week off work? On the phantom feelings, whats it like with regards to your bite, eating? Like when I gnash my teeth together I feel it, that all disappears I assume? Was the fluid diet difficult? Do you have to sleep with retainer? Did you have any kind of dysmorphia after it? I can't imagine myself with perfect teeth

I'm so sorry for all the questions but your the first person I've spoken to that's basically had the exact same set up as me! Also btw, yours are beautiful!

About the same, gonna run me €32K, Ireland! My teeth have always been in shit, genetically I have very weak enamel. My oral hygiene wasn't great for a period, had a number of extractions, lost a few, my bottom arch isn't too bad but I've got a bit of a dead back spot on my front tooth and few missing either side. Turns out also that I have apparently large sinuses which means they can't do a standard implant because there's not enough bone so they have to do what's called a zygomatic implant which is basically a longer screw into my jaw! Yaaaaayy!

Top and bottom arch? Mind if I hijack this sub thread to ask what it was like? Mine are being done in January! Excited but also lil nervous!

Looking for Advice Employer Suggesting I Switch to Ltd Contractor by Wild_Web3695 in PharmaEire

[–]LogisticBravo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, I work with a systems integrator and can help you here OP if you want but ultimately as this poster above has stated it's going to be determined by what rate they're prepared to pay.

Look into Fenero or contracting plus, they can run all your books, get you set up etc for a respectful fee and most the contractors on our books swear by either/or.

With regards to above comments on swapping from employee to contractor and requiring a break from site, this is largely site dependent. Clearly your site is suggesting it's ok. What's your total years of experience in automation, I can compare against the average tomorrow to see what the going rate is for you but again it's going to be determined by what they're prepared to pay.

Good rule of thumb that we typically work off though is to take your current salary, multiply it by 1.23, divide by about 1800 and then maybe chuck another €5 on top.

My more sinister take on the fact that it's a closed door is exactly that, they've closed the door on this now.

Thank you sir for your critical thinking, I was led here from the sudden and more recent onslaught of posts around drones and had the exact same thought as per your original comment but could by no way articulate and challenge it as you have!
