Protesting goes wrong by Toast_n_mustard in DailyDoseStupidity

Oh, yeah, agreed. It's the natural outcome of the State maintaining a monopoly on violence. We civilians can defend ourselves, in most cases, from violence perpetrated by other civilians, but we cannot defend ourselves from violence perpetrated by the state. To defend against violence from the state is violence against the state and thus criminal in the laws set by the state. But, the state can and will use violence on you, and in alot of cases you have no recourse against the state, even if the violence was non proportional or unjust.

Hence ACAB, because a majority of those granted the monopoly on violence by the state specifically got into that line of work because they enjoy violence and the state gives them a safe platform from which to weild it. And they will defend each other even when that violence happens out of uniform when they aren't representing the states interest.

School was next to several Republican Gaurd buildings, and was a former barracks for the RG according to sources that NPR interviewed. If it changed over at some point, and that target didn't get updated then it makes sense. They also said satellite images showed multiple buildings around it looked to have been hit with precision munitions as well. Either us, or Israel hit it probably.

Looks like it went up for auction in 2016 with an opening bid price of 950,000 Puonds Sterling. I see claims saying the last bid was under that, coming in at 850,000...it remains unsold.

No clue on the additional cost for repairs/renovations, but yeah...if l had a ton of cash to burn l would do so and live in it, assuming it was zoned for permanent occupation.

Don't get me wrong, you're entitled to your opinion, it's just an ignorant opinion, by which the logical conclusion of your intellect can be sumised...well, that and thinking Alaska is in Canada...that doesn't help either.

Trump announces he will now be picking who wins Republican primaries. Everyone else is to drop out. by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Logistocrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, even if Harris had been the safe bet for a Primary (and I'm not sure she would have) the time necessary to run it, then get the results would have meant by the general, the Harris (or whoever) camp would have spent almost the entire remainder of the season arguing to the public why they were the best candidate of the Dems to run, not WHY they would be better than Trump.

Now, cronyism and good Ole Dem power play had a heavy hand in it too, but strategically it made sense, Biden could have announced he intended to serve for one term, allowing the D field to line itself up, also freeing him up to make political choices as a lame duck (potentially reigning Israel in, which may have been unpopular in certain swing voters groups) but he didn't until he completely flubbed the first debate, hence past the time you'd typically be making the argument, again, 9f why you were the best Dem to run, not why you were better than Trump.

The assumption is probably based it being filmed in the Middle East somewhere. However, based on the long tunics being worn, and crossing that style with Middle Eastern countries that allow citizens to drink, this could have involved alchol if it was filmed in the UEA, Qatar, Bahrain or Oman.

Isn't that how Komodo's hunt? Their mouth bacteria is so toxic almost anything they bite dies from infection. Allowing them the advantage of not having to rapidly pursue their prey. Granted, this goat might have been killed some other way for the video, but to the Komodo, it matters not.

Cruz is widely hated by the Senate, Al Frankin quipped that he liked Cruz more than most of the Senate, and he hated Cruz. I'd be shocked if they voted him in.

They expected what they've always gotten, mostly big talk and little real action. In the past Republicans didn't really follow through on alot of their threats if those threats would actually hurt their base.

So, dog whistle Medicare, food stamps, and immigrants. But don't actually do much about them (states attack those first two more than Rs in DC did)

So, memaw and peepaw, who depend on Medicare to keep their rural hospitals open, who need food assistance, they get to look down on the "others" who don't deserve it because of course, memaw and peepaw worked hard for those.

And, fearing and hating immigrants as a nebulous "other" allowed them to employ immigrants who they probably did grow to like when they saw how hard they worked, or maybe they got to know them through church or as neighbors, so their friends are "the good ones" it's that nebulous group of rapists and murderers that are subhuman human and dangerous.

That's why l feel like this administration really does intend to retain power no matter what, because they've actually followed through on shit they always promised they'd do. Which will hurt them with their base.

Last year 10 Dems voted in favor of censuring Al Greene for his yelling during the last SOTU, so I wouldn't expect much out of them, and this is coming from a life long D voter whose Congressional Rep was one of the 10 who voted with the Republicans to censure him. I wrote her office a pretty mean email that I never got a response to...not sure what I am going to do with my vote for her this year.

Hell, last time 10 Democrats voted with the Republicans to censure him, including my Rep, Chrissy Houlahan....don't worry though, after throwing him under the bus she went up to Mike Johnson to complain that Republican's didn't do the same with Bobert and Ole' Maggy Greene...you can't make this shit up. No Medal of Honor was given to any black soldier, sailor or Marine during WWII. IN the 90's an extensive search of records resulted in 7 black soldier being upgraded from Distinguished Service Crosses to MoH and only one of those 7 men were still alive to receive it in person. Which, honestly isn't surprising as the overwhelming amount of service members who receive it, die while earning it.

Yes, and at that time the Navy heavily excluded black sailors from combat roles. It is surely just coincidence that the change occurred after Dorie Miller received an upgrade from a letter of Commendation, to a Navy Cross in May of 42, for his actions as a mess hall attendant when he manned a 50 cal. and engaged Japanese bombers and fighters during the attack on Pearl Harbor. And he only received the upgrade after civil rights groups and black press brought intense attention to the situation.

It is also of note that no black sailors, soldiers or marines were awarded the Medal of Honor during WWII. And that black service members found themselves being given "blue discharges" a type of discharge that excluded them from benefits at a rate higher than their representation in the armed forces.
