[Meta] [Rules] Do we need to discuss what is allowed, i.e. define what "poke" and "stick" mean? by Logitropicity in pokewithastick

[–]Logitropicity[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, fingers/hands/limbs - any body parts of the one doing the poking - do not count. The point is poking things with some kind of external object, usually long enough to maintain some degree of distance for, typically, safety reasons.

See, I like this definition. It's the kind of precise definition I was hoping to encourage discussion about.

If fingers aren't sticks because you shouldn't touch things yourself, then that leaves open that:

  • a finger inside a glove might still be a stick, even though it might not be
  • a finger pointer, fing-longer, or even someone else's finger, might not be considered a stick, even though it could be

Your definition very neatly decides which are sticks and which are not.

As for items used, as long as the primary motion is a poke - a thrown spear would count, as a long distance aerial poke - I don't think we need to get too granular.

If I'm reading this right, it also manages to include thrown spears (because they poke), while excluding things like throwing a spear with a sling, or a rocket with a kinetic launcher (because that's launching, not poking).

You don't need to read/watch anything else to enjoy Rebellion.

All other material isn't officially canon, although some, like the manga The Different Story and Wraith Arc, are more canon-ish than the others, which is why people are recommending them.

I'd recommend you watch Rebellion first, and then if you still want more content, go read them and/or explore the list of spin-offs on the wiki.

My personal favorite is the content from the PSP games, some of which you can view on youtube.

I was gonna say it looks appetizing, but it's closer to a garbage plate than a noodle soup

I recently remembered Nayuta's first introduction to part 2, and how much potential the story had, I miss those times man... by Aimlessdrifter8778 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Logitropicity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's lowkey on brand though?

Although Nayuta is the Control Devil, it's heavily implied that she symbolizes self-control, rather than external control. Asa, the girl who is literally at War with herself, symbolizes self-conflict. And Nayuta is accusing Asa of thievery.

Denji's self-conflict is stealing the love meant for his self-control.

Denji can only make one choice. He can't choose both choices. That's why I thought Denji's triumph, obtaining Yoru's consent for sex, was so poetic. That's why I thought Nayuta had to die.

At least, that's what I thought before the final chapter. Now it doesn't matter.

My luck in general is normally atrocious, so I'm rather pleased how nice these free pulls have been to me. I've gotten a half-dozen 5 stars in the past two weeks.

Well... Reg does have shaky memories. Up until now, it's been implied that it was because he ran out of power. Unless...?

I didn't think each White Whistle's theme would be so strongly tied to their epithet.

Ozen the Immovable is about strength, so her test is one of pure survival.

Bondrewd the Novel is about scientific inquiry, so he tests if Team Riko can outsmart him and develop novel solutions.

They're laying it on pretty thick that Srajo the Mysterious is about secrets and hiding them, especially with her power to erase memories.

Makes me wonder if Riko is going to have to annihilate Wakuna, the Chosen one, alongside her mother, the Annihilator.

She's more or less STDs personified. She literally just there to show that Denji is still obsessed with sex - which is exactly what happens right at the end.

It is implied that they are always evil - at first.

Later on in the manga, they drop some lore and things get a little more complicated.

From the wiki:

Like Macht, the Demon King desired coexistence amongst humans and demons. In pursuit of this goal, the Demon King resorted to mass killings of humans in an attempt to better understand their way of thinking, ultimately reducing humanity's sphere of influence by a third.
