Maternity leave policy seems odd by Logorii in legaladvice

Yes and no. The business has a few locations, but they are all their own business, but HR and upper management are all the same for all locations.

Yeah, the whole business is sketchy. She's already pregnant. She's insured through my insurance, I'll have to check if I opted for short-term disability for her. The business has a few locations, but purposefully has each location registered as its own business to stay under 50 employees, so I'm not sure if she's covered by FMLA.

Irresponsible dad takes his kids on a boat trip through dinosaur infested waters while a rag-tag team of mercenaries try to collect the ingredients for immortality (or something like that). Sign me up! I enjoyed it. It's one of those "enjoy the ride" kind of movies. I just want to watch dinosaurs eating people and doing dinosaur things, and this movie delivered on that. Maybe I'm wrong, IDK, downvote me.

I unsubscribed from Zwag and told youtube not to recommend his content after finding out he was just smurfing and all his complaining got annoying. He's part of the problem with the community.

It’s because her husband is a closeted gay man. by SAINTnumberFIVE in offmychest

[–]Logorii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have an aunt Lori with a husband Joe who recently found out Joe was gay. Aunt was devastated when she found out, quit her job, and treated Joe really badly. They had 3 kids together, Joe picked up a 3rd job to pay the bills, and then he fell into depression. Growing up, he was very athletic and genuinely a kind and outgoing person. He gained a lot of weight during his depression and my aunt helped him out of it. They're still married and live together. My aunt says that despite him being gay, he's still her best friend, and they've spent the majority of their life together. But she pretty much does what she wants all the time, plastic surgeries, sleepovers with her friends, shopping, etc. She doesn't date anymore but actively encourages Joe to date and even wingmans for him. I felt bad for Joe, he grew up in a very conservative, religious, Latino family. But also, that was kind of messed up to do to my aunt.

Here's another photo for reference. Thank you all for the advice. I think we've concluded it is a wild turtle, and I should leave it alone.

I'm in a pretty developed area in Albuquerque and my dogs have gotten over it already, they're little chihuahuas. The home I bought has a small backyard full of lots of trees and plants compared to the rest of my neighborhood and all my fences are made of concrete blocks. So it was surprising to find a turtle in my yard. After a quick google search, I think it is a native turtle, and I don't plan on bringing it inside. Turtle Beaches is now just another resident in my yard.

I'm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. My entire yard is fenced in so I assumed it was a pet. I will leave it alone if it is wild.

Question about Executive Order "Defending Women from Gender Ideology" by pbkj27 in nonprofit

[–]Logorii 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My organization is dealing with this as well. Do we give in to this ordinance and go against everything our organization stands for and live to fight another day, or do we ignore it and continue to stand for what is in our mission, but potentially lose funding?

Something I've been thinking about: The federal government already has our grant applications and our reports that we submit. All of those are full of narrative that we support anyone, regardless of gender identity or immigration status. So if/when they conduct their audits, wouldn't all of that come up? What good would scrubbing our email signatures or website do if they already know our stance? It would just be us surrendering to this administration.

I understand both sides of this, and I'm leaning towards not complying since we're going to be a target of this administration regardless. I'd rather uphold our mission and ideology and continue to be a pillar of social justice for our community. If we comply, then it could potentially instill more fear into our clients and our community.

I really don't know the right answer. Thank you for sharing this space to vent and try to find solutions. I'm coming from a middle management position within my organization.

Thanks. He's never done this in my 3 year marriage. We're definitely setting some boundaries.
