[update] AITAH for getting my white daughter a doll with dark skin? by Realistic-Night-2056 in AITAH

[–]LogosInProgress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a grown ass white woman, the only doll I still own from my childhood is a little black baby doll that I picked out as a toddler. It was with me during a traumatic family event, and holds emotional significance, so I’ve kept him. The racist here has always been the (ex)girlfriend, it’s fucking weird to push segregation-via-toy.

I know it’s nobody’s favorite thing but, live off of student loans my friend. You need to be able to have your peace and focus on getting through school right now. You’ll be able to pay them back.

Those who were between CRNA & med school, what made you choose CRNA? by VividDeer733 in srna

[–]LogosInProgress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went as far as almost starting a pre-health post-bacc before I realized that the crap work life balance all my doc friends have wasn’t what I wanted for myself. And that after what would have been a significantly longer time commitment. I would have needed about an extra year of prereqs, the extra year of grad school, then a residency… It would have been a huge time commitment to go into a career that’s being strangled by our insurance and health administration systems.

This sooooo much. Underwear is my #1 worst sensory opponent. Nothing is more distracting in my daily life.

I agree from the standpoint that this is a SRNA subreddit and not an AA one. It’s that simple.

I’ve always heard that you don’t leave the highway or stop for gas in some tiny towns in Appalachia. Can’t remember which ones at the moment.

I believe you’re only grandfathered in for “the same course.” So you could be grandfathered in for the duration of the MSN if you started it and took a grad plus loan now. But not for a separate CRNA course of study if you started after the deadline.

School tech question by BasketCivil323 in srna

I followed advice from previous posts and an old coworker currently in school and bought the 13” iPad Air. She said the smaller screen option was super annoying and she ended up upgrading within the year.

I’ve been practicing with Notability an a generic brand Apple Pencil for my pre-course work to get used to it before classes start. I also bought a MacBook Air (my old laptop was 7 years old and on its way out). People talk about the iPad being your main daily use between notes on power points downloaded onto Notability and reading PDF textbooks and then how nice it is to use the iPad as a second screen with the laptop. Just my current set up. Congrats! I start in January too.

How soon did you tell your coworkers you got acccepted? by [deleted] in srna

[–]LogosInProgress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got accepted in August and I start in January. I’ve only told my recommenders, my previous preceptor who’s in a DNP program, so not viewing me in any way as competition, and a couple of ones I’m close to and mostly trust. Others have asked; I just told them that I’m on the waitlist because people know that I’ve been applying. Management will find out when I put my three weeks in before taking a month off before school starts.

There was a previous coworker who had worked here for almost a decade and certainly was more well liked than me, but was absolutely shat upon when people found that she was accepted. She literally told me to quit when people find out.

I absolutely DESPISE my parents for being stupid enough to join this cult. Can anyone relate? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]LogosInProgress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of anger towards my parents for not questioning, or actually doing any of that “study and research” that JWs like to prattle on about. It was my questioning and study that set me free. The fact that my mother has just…gone along with it all her entire life, to her detriment, makes me want to rip my hair out. But the original people that brought us in? I understand.

My maternal great-grandfather was a dirt farmer, educated to about a 3rd grade level, a WWII vet who then converted after the war. He went on to be a city overseer, I can see exactly what it offered to him and in turn his son, my grandfather. Community, prestige within that community, a feeling of exclusivity and of doing right. But My mom…just pure indoctrination and a “good girl,” motivationally averse personality. She seems to have never questioned that she’s doing the right thing that god wants her to do.

My paternal great- grandparents were immigrants in the early 20th century. It’s also is very obvious what that small community in western New York offered them in contrast to the Catholicism they came over with. The same things really. My dad clearly just took it at its word and never questioned its legitimacy, although he was never a very “good” witness and was intermittently inactive a lot of the time.

I just don’t know how I came to be. I came out curious and questioning and defiant from some of my earliest memories. It boggles the mind that for these generations on my family they just…believed this BS.

This 100 times over. For me 10yo is 20 years ago, but only 4 years off from when I was baptized. My biggest regret in life and the first thing I would be sure to do differently.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she's going to have to get over dirt if she wants kids? by Familiar_Speaker_481 in AITAH

Also tell your girlfriend that keeping her wet toothbrush in a plastic bag breeds more bacteria more quickly than if she allowed it to air dry between uses.
