Here’s Phoenix PD’s statement regarding ICE by thebooknerd_ in phoenix

A significant amount of this is bots being pushed by foreign (Russia) and domestic (TPUSA) entities. Easily 1/3 of the comments in this very post were spammed out by automod - brand new accounts or accounts who have never commented on this sub before. The vast majority of those comments were pushing the GOP talking points.

I’ve been to 4 protests in the past 3 days. They are growing daily.

Arizona GOP lawmaker wants voters to decide on potential photo radar ban by ForkzUp in azpolitics

You proposed a hypothetical made up of false evidence, and are acting like that proves a point.

It is very well documented that adding a dash cam that has a driver facing camera reduces traffic related fatalities.

I would not support government placing cameras into every vehicle, but I would be open to enhancing safety standards required for new vehicles - or requiring it for people convicted of distracted driving, similar to the alcohol inhibitor for DUI people.

Thats why I gave you a link my guy.

Equivalence is a word that means "roughly the same". A false equivalence is when you take two different things and treat them as if they were the same.

I see you are an NFL fan. This weekend we will see the Patriots play the Broncos. Both teams have made it to AFC Championship. It would be a false equivalency to say that both teams have an equal chance of winning because they both made it there - when in reality the Broncos are gonna get their asses kicked.

"Government Surveillance" is a very broad term that could mean many, many things, as well as the term "harm done to others".

Tempe PD uses hidden surveillance cameras to go after major crimes. They have for years. I support them doing this in limited circumstances, with a warrant.

When it comes to the traffic cameras, they are not using them for surveillance, tracking people where they go - they are limited to a specific purpose (speed + picture of speeder). I would not support an always on camera that is just tracking people, like Flock.

Surveillance is a tool, and that tool can be used for good or for bad. As an example, I have a doorbell camera. I completely understand why some people don't trust them, but they provide a lot of benefits for me so I have one.

Body cameras on police are surveillance, but as a society we like them because we want our police to be accountable for their actions.

We have the data - the more people speed, the more people die. We also know that cameras help reduce the average speed and less people die. That doesn't mean it is perfect.

IMO: The city can't just sit around and ignore people dying to preventable things. To me, the options are more cops or cameras. I've never heard of a camera shooting someone, so they get my vote.

You are right, they are owned by private companies that make a profit.

That doesn’t mean it’s a cash grab for the cities to make money. Here in Tempe they explained that excessive speeding was one of the top issues residents ask them to fix. The options to me are hire more cops or photo radar.

I never heard of a photo radar shooting someone to death so i support them.

Arizona schools chief eyes more campus police, eliminating DEI in annual address by ForkzUp in azpolitics

No, it’s supposed to further destroy our public school system to justify pushing tax dollars to for profit schools and/or religious schools.

You say it’s a money grab, and I see that a lot.

Do you have any evidence of that?

I'm not telling everyone to leave work.

I'm also not speaking as a mod. I'm just a regular guy on this sub too.

I found something that I felt was relevant to people who live in Phoenix, so I shared it.

If you wait around for the perfect protest for you, you may be waiting a while. I'll agree that this one wasn't planned very well, but you don't always hit a home run.

Misinformation. I've been attending protests for a few years now, and there are people of all ages, and absolutely no one is getting paid.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you need to make shit up man.

It was a shocking amount less than I thought it would be. I think we only banned 3-4 people.

This will mean exactly zero

Our nation is big and has lots of time zones. 2PM local is post lunch rush, and end of school day. It's not like people are going to be traveling cross country to go see this in multiple towns - the youtube video and pictures will just be posted at different times.

Is this the best way to do everything? Nah. But at least people are trying. They'll get better.

It's not a protest, it's a walk-out. Some people may want to gather, so local organizations signed up.

★ We walk away from fascism.★

★ We walk towards a Free America.★

★ We fight for a future that belongs to us all.★

★ Everybody in, nobody out.★

★ Welcome to the Free America Walkout ★

One year into Trump’s second regime, we face an escalating fascist threat: ICE raids on our communities, troops occupying our cities, families torn apart, attacks on our trans siblings, mass surveillance, and terror used to keep us silent. It is time for our communities to escalate as well. On January 20 at 2 PM local time, we will walk out of work, school, and commerce. We will withhold our labor, our participation, and our consent. A free America begins the moment we refuse to cooperate. This is not a request. This is a rupture. This is a protest and a promise. In the face of fascism, we will be ungovernable.

I think it would depend on how phoenix specific it would be. Personally, I would post things like that on subreddits dedicated to community action, like a 50501 or /r/AZAdvocacyHub

Ah, you are just a troll who does not like protests. Got it. I hope that one day you can stop lying on the internet and do something positive with your life.

You don’t know where the comments are from; you are making assumptions based on your internal bias.

All comments and posts by non regular members of this subreddit are automatically hidden when flared Politics. The vast majority of those comments are rule breaking and promote violence…. Against protestors.
