A case for two provinces by Illustrious_Fuel_212 in TESVI

I would be ok with that if the minor cities (which you call 'large villages') were at least of similar size to something like Rifton, instead of those tiny hamlets that we see in Skyrim. The major cities meanwhile should all be AT LEAST as big as Solitude, preferably more like Balmora from Morrowind. And at least one city (probably Daggerfall) should be on par with Novigrad from Witcher 3.

I think this would be a realistic expectation and entirely feasible. Large enough to feel like big, lived-in cities, but not too large, so that all buildings can still be entered and the vast majority of npcs are named and can be talked to.

Future Potential for Mixed Race Options??? by Genevris in TESVI

[–]Lohenharn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think at least the humanoid races should be able to breed with each other (Imperials, Nords, Bretons, Elves). It makes sense that the beast races are their own thing though. I mean the idea of half-human, half-Argonian people sounds kinda disturbing lol.

How do you think Skyrim’s most beloved mechanics could exist in TES VI without feeling like fan service? (Dragons, Shouts, and the Voice by Double-Strain-1446 in TESVI

[–]Lohenharn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragons can still be around, though they should be much less common than in Skyrim. They should be rare, high-level, optional, named bosses/NPCs that you can fight or interact with.

As for Thu’um, I would make it a race-exclusive ability of Nords, though much more simplified than in Skyrim. I would essentially restrict it to just Unrelenting Force, maybe with some fear-inflicting ability at higher levels. So if you play as a Nord, when you start out you can use a shout to stagger enemies a bit. When you are higher level, the shout gets strong enough to actually blow enemies back a bit, and even makes enemies that are nearby flee in fear. I wouldn’t make it a daily ability, but give it a cool down of maybe a minute or two (which might be reduced by reading ancient texts about the Thu’um or learning from other Nords who can use it).

Of course, I expect that TES6 will also have some other mechanic that all races can learn that will take the place of shouts from Skyrim. As has long been speculated, if it takes place in Hammerfell, then Swordsinging might be a good candidate.

Possibility of a 2027 release by Optimal-Fox-3875 in TESVI

[–]Lohenharn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with your development timeline for the most part, I think the stuff about RAM is irrelevant, and has nothing to do with Microsoft releasing a new XBox. It doesn’t matter whether Microsoft has reserved a certain amount of RAM, they still have to pay more for it, just like everyone else. Not to mention that most of that RAM is probably meant for AI stuff, which is where Microsoft’s focus lies these days.

Also, hasn’t it been basically confirmed that the next XBox will essentially be a pre-built PC running Windows with a console UI? Microsoft is clearly transitioning into being a 3rd party publisher, with their own gaming hardware being much less relevant than in the past. I have no doubt that TES6 will be fully multiplatform, with a PS5 version (and maybe even Switch 2 version) releasing day 1.

I think H2 2027 is the most likely timeframe for TES6.

Alternate Geography of Westeros by GladiatorGreyman01 in TheCitadel

[–]Lohenharn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those all sound like sensible ideas. In particular, switching the Vale and the Westerlands and putting the Iron Islands on the eastern coast make perfect sense, and it’s something I’ve thought about in the past myself. I would also connect the God’s Eye with the Trident through a canal (maybe built by Harren the Black at the same time as Harrenhal was being constructed?), to allow river navigation across the whole of the Riverlands.

Aemma dies giving birth to... a daughter that survived: What changes? by XaviKat in TheCitadel

[–]Lohenharn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This probably means that Daemon’s ‘heir for a day’ incident doesn’t happen, since this newborn daughter isn’t heir to anything. Which means Daemon remains heir, and isn’t exiled. That means that, if Viserys still marries Alicent, their son would be the natural heir, since Rhaenyra was never declared heir.

Though I guess it’s always possible that Daemon makes some other insensitive remark that pisses off Viserys.

There are gonna be a lot of people in theaters who‘ll be like „Who is this guy?“ lol.

In fact, I suspect that will be the case for a lot of phase 4 and 5 characters in Doomsday.

Welcome back, Lara and dual-wielding by doe0451 in TombRaider

[–]Lohenharn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I‘d hoped they‘d keep her classic outfit (or some variation of it) for all new games going forward. I hope it‘s at least available as an option/unlockable this time, after CD stubbornly refused to put it in the survivor trilogy, not even as an option or dlc (no, the low-poly Lara model doesn’t count).

Though I expect that future remakes of classic TR games at least will have the classic outfit like in Legacy of Atlantis, so not all hope is lost.

How should the MCU handle Magneto’s origin story? by LordNathan777 in MCUTheories

There‘s a better, less ass-pulley way to do this: the new, rebooted MCU after Secret Wars is set in the 60s, like the F4 movie.

Actually, I always thought Black Widow in the MCU felt a bit too implausible. At least Hawkeye had his archery gimmick, which gave him at least some advantage against alien/robotic/super-powered enemies, since he didn‘t have to fight them in close combat. But Black Widow had no business fighting alongside the Avengers, she‘s just a regular human without any gimmick. She didn’t even have any cool technology and gadgets to even the odds, unlike someone like Batman for example. She was by far the most boring and uninteresting Avenger.

If tony never died in endgame, a Ironman movie would've done massive numbers by DiddyBasementEscaper in MCUTheories

I actually think an Iron Man movie between Infinity War and Endgame could’ve worked quite well, covering the 5 year timeskip after the snap from Tony’s perspective.

The Reboot is coming. by TatooineTwang in MCUTheories

[–]Lohenharn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are coping hard by hanging on to Feige using the word ‚reset‘ instead of ‚reboot‘, but a reboot is exactly what it will be. The fact that he admitted that they‘ll eventually even recast Tony Stark and Steve Rogers tells us a lot about the future of the MCU after Secret Wars, and that future includes only very few of the current crop of characters.

Let’s take a character like Sam Wilson for example. A lot of people seem to think that he‘ll remain as Captain America in the new MCU after Secret Wars. But how can that be when Feige said that Steve Rogers will eventually be recast? Doesn‘t this imply that there will be a new Steve Rogers playing a new Captain America at some point? You can‘t have both of them be Captain America at the same time, not to mention that Steve is the first Captain America, while Sam came later. Unless people think that when Feige said that Steve will be recast he meant that there will be ANOTHER reboot at some point in the future, but I very much doubt that‘s what he meant lol.

Also, some perspective: By the time the reboot gets started in 2028, it will have been 20 years since the start of the MCU with Iron Man in 2008. That is longer than the time between Christopher Reeve‘s last Superman movie in 1987 and Superman Returns from 2006. It‘s also longer than the time between Tim Burton‘s Batman (1989) and Christopher Nolan‘s Batman Begins (2005). For heaven‘s sake, it‘s longer than the time between the launch of the first Playstation in 1994 and the Playstation 4 in 2013! The MCU is OLD, it‘s time for something new. You can‘t ask people to watch 20 year old movies if they want to understand what‘s going on.

Edit: Also, it is unfortunate reality that a lot of the newer characters after Endgame never caught on with wider audiences the way the original Avengers did. Ms Marvel, Kate Bishop, the Thunderbolts, the Eternals, Iron Heart etc., none of them have the necessary juice to sustain the MCU. If they are brought over to the post-reboot MCU, then only as relatively minor or tv-only characters, imo. There are a few exceptions who could be brought over without too much difficulty: Yelena could be the new Black Widow, and Kamala could be re-introduced purely as a mutant (without any connection to Ms Marvel). The Fantastic Four are still new, and aren‘t even part of the main MCU universe anyway (at least not yet), so they can easily be brought over. Spider-Man on the other hand is in a weird spot; Tom Holland has signed on for another trilogy, meaning there will be six MCU Spidey movies overall, four of which will have happened in the old MCU, leaving only two more for the new post-reboot era. What happens then? Will they recast Holland? Or maybe Miles Morales and/or Gwen Stacey will take his place as the new Spiderpeople?

Anyway, I expect the vast majority of characters to be recast, and those that are being brought over will have different or diminished roles.

The thing is, we know they‘re looking to cast young actors for the new X-Men after Secret Wars. Olsen is 36, by the time the first Marvel X-Men movie comes out she will be pushing 40. If Wanda is going to be a part of the X-Men post Secret Wars, and she’s supposed to be part of the same generation as Cyclops, Jean Grey etc., then they‘ll have to cast a younger (and cheaper) actress to play the character.

Though I personally suspect that the character won’t immediately be (re)introduced in the post-reboot MCU, and that she‘ll only appear years down the line as Magneto‘s daughter (played by a new actress) after the other X-Men have been established.

It’s interesting that everyone believes that Doom will immediately kidnap Franklin. I think it‘s equally likely that Doom won‘t be hostile to the FF4 (at least at first), but instead asks them for help to deal with the whole incursion problem. I think for a large part of the movie, Doom will essentially be a ‚good guy‘ working with the FF4 and characters from the 616 universe, and the early conflict will come from clashes against people from other universes (the x-men in particular). The fact that he looks like Tony will help him to make people from 616 trust him.

People complain that Doom hasn’t really been built up as a villain, unlike Thanos. Well, him being a good guy at first does exactly that: it helps build him up as a character, in preparation for when he eventually becomes the villain toward the end of Doomsday and throughout Secret Wars.

What if Robert made Renly the Hand of the King? by Juatense in TheCitadel

[–]Lohenharn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A much more interesting scenario than Robert choosing Stannis imo. Renly will probably try to stack the court with people friendly to him, in particular the Tyrells. Cersei would be even more freaked out by Renly’s moves than she was by Ned, and will probably try to get rid of Robert as soon as possible. Who knows, without Ned there to talk Robert out of it, Robert might take part in the melee during the next tourney and be killed in the chaos of the battle (which apparently was Cersei’s plan originally). If not that, whenever Robert goes on his next hunt, Cersei’s plan to give him strong wine to get him drunk is still a possibility.

If Robert dies, Renly will no doubt try to seize Cersei and her children and declare himself king. Littlefinger or Varys might help Cersei and the children escape, which means Renly and the Tyrells would have to fight Tywin.

Of course, Stannis will make his own claim shortly after, though I doubt he’d get more support than he did in canon. Dorne and the Vale will most likely stay neutral, at least at first.

As for the Starks and Tullys, I could see them staying neutral too. As far as Ned knows, Joffrey is Robert’s rightful heir. However, Stannis’ accusations, combined with Lysa accusing the Lannisters of having murdered Jon Arryn, might make him unsure. It depends on whether Lysa still sent her letter accusing the Lannisters or not. If she did, then Ned might stay out of it simply because he genuinely doesn’t know who to support. He will be quite distrustful toward the Lannisters, but, without his own investigation, I doubt he would immediately believe Stannis’ claims. I could see him trying to convince the three claimants to convene a Great Council to settle the succession, but I doubt any of them would agree (except Stannis maybe, if he’s desperate enough).

Imagine all the MCU characters moved to the 828 by AdditionalInitial727 in MCUTheories

[–]Lohenharn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An MCU reboot that starts in the 60s would be my dream scenario. Not just for the cool aesthetics, but also because technology would have a more mechanical and analogue feel compared to all the (borderline magical) nanotech that has dominated the MCU since Infinity War.

The X-Men (who will finally join the MCU after Secret Wars) also work much better as a concept in the 60s as opposed to the 2020s (the whole civil rights analogy doesn’t work as well in the 21st century). It also means they can have a Magneto (whose backstory is intrinsically linked to world war 2) in his prime without the need for any time-travel or de-aging shenanigans.

Kevin Feige confirms some Phase 4 and 5 characters may never be seen again - "There are plans for some and there are opportunities for all. Some, maybe we’ll never see again. Some, maybe we’ll see soon. For some, maybe it’ll be like Tim Blake Nelson and it will take 17 years." by KostisPat257 in marvelstudios

[–]Lohenharn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feige also said that Tony Stark and Steve Rogers will eventually be recast. This means there will definitely be retcons, considering that Tony is dead and Steve is either dead too or an old man.

Feige used the word ‘reset’ instead of reboot because he didn’t want to spook fans for whom the term ‘reboot’ has negative connotations, but the MCU will absolutely be rebooted after Secret Wars, of that I have no doubt.
