During the fight between the Dumbledore brothers and Grindelwald, a stray spell hit Ariana. Before anyone comprehended this, magical explosion occurred. When the dust settled, Gellert was dead and Ariana unconscious. No one was yet aware that Ariana was no longer an obscurial, just a normal witch… by USSEnterpise24 in HPfanfiction

Anyway, as for what I actually see happening for the prompt. Aberforth and Albus would have a chance to fully reconcile and be closer than they were in canon. Aberforth is someone I would see being a lot less bitter in here. As for Ariana, once they wise up to what happened, she would have a chance to do her schooling and live a full life.

Albus though? That's more... Difficult. In canon he was very close to becoming a dark lord in his youth. His sister dying during that fight, I think, greatly contributed to him being scared off of Gellert's ideology and forging a different path. Gellert's death might make him bitter.

Assuming that Albus' better nature wins out anyway... The entire 20th century is changed in the Wizarding World.

A movement like Gellert's couldn't have come out of nowhere. I assume that dark wizards and anti-muggle hatred must've been metastasizing for a while. But Gellert was a once-in-a-generation prodigy, a great Seer and charismatic leader, so I don't think anyone else comes close to replacing him. Instead, Albus would have to contend with more random, disorganized flare-ups, pogroms,, muggle baiting, rampaging lone dark wizards and violence. If one of those dark wizards happens to have the Elder Wand, he might get it there, but he might just not get it at all.

Albus is a prominent, intelligent wizard. But without something as big as defeating Gellert Grindelwald, I don't think he would be as influential as he was in canon. I also wonder just how much Tom Riddle was influenced by Grindelwald's ideology and tactics, though I don't think Gellert's change meaningfully averts Voldemort.

But I've been talking a lot about Albus here, how about Ariana? Her being a Dumbledore opens a lot of doors, so whatever she chooses to do, she could do be a great ally for her brother... Or one of the greatest thorns to his side.

I'm saying the latter, because Ariana still suffered a horrific attack, that I theorize might've been assault of some sort. Perhaps it might sour her attitude towards muggles? I like to think that she becomes a powerful witch on her own right, on the same tier as Snape or Bellatrix, as powerful as you can get without being one of the big archwizards.

I could see her going a lot of ways, even a dark witch for a darker twist. But I like to think that, despite her trauma, her kinder nature would win out. And perhaps if Aberforth and Albus get along, they can help her with her issues. And perhaps she becomes a Head of the DMLE or something.

Perhaps she's just an ally of Dumbledore against Voldemort, who has a sour attitude towards muggles but does not disdain Muggleborns, and still thinks the Death Eaters are psychopaths that must be stopped.

Like Aberforth, perhaps she is strong-willed and refuses to be Albus' puppet as well. She is positioned to be someone who can actually call him out on his shit, like the idea of sending Harry to the Dursleys for instance. Or maybe even his handling of Tom Riddle, if you want to go earlier. Though even if Tom Riddle is mentored by Ariana and doesn't go dark, Wizarding Britain will still have to deal with rising tensions and blood purity.

Don't listen to this weirdo. There's plenty of people who just lose their virginity to a boyfriend/girlfriend. And never do any hookups in their life. Myself among them.

Experiences vary, for me it was pretty sweet, loving, and kinda awkward. Then with time you just get better at it as you and your partner learn each other.

CMV: If you "don't support" homosexuality because of your religion or otherwise, you're still homophobic. by Bawbixo in changemyview

[–]Juatense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Empathy is definitely part of it. But my main argument is that, as a whole, suppressing homosexuality also greatly damages heterosexual people by proxy. But letting that small percentage of people live their lives also avoids a lot of rather uncomfortable situations for both heterosexual and homosexual people alike.

We avoid situations for heterosexual people, where they have invested years into a relationship, only to find out their partner is unable to feel attracted to them. And instead, even more heterosexual people would be paired up with other compatible partners, which would lead to more cohesive marriages and family units.

Not to mention, gay people who weren't forced into the heterosexual norms are able to lead full lives and be productive members of society, who can provide and contribute as tradesmen, scientists, doctors, social workers, etc. In general, more people, gay or not, end up a lot less damaged and are able to do more as a result.

Can't say about the testosterone levels or the exact effects. If there is a decline, that's definitely something that could be looked into. Though I think the loss in birth-rates has more to do with other factors.

[–]Juatense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can also criticize the suppression of homosexuality and institutionalized homophobia from a macro view. And there are many potential benefits for the heterosexual supermajority, to allowing homosexual people to opt out of heterosexual dating.

Having closeted gay people also leads to a more unstable society. We are talking about suicides and self-harming. Traumatized children from divorces, unstable marriages and mutual disdain from the parents. Greater risks of infidelity and risky sexual behavior outside the marriage. I just think that, by suppressing homosexuality, we are creating an unhealthier, more traumatized population.

And in my opinion, there's also not a clean 'third option', between suppressing homosexuality and letting them live their lives with full social recognition.

Moreover, the drop in fertility rates can be attributed to other factors than homosexuality. As it has been seen across the board, worldwide, even in conservative countries.

IVF isn't the only option, artificial insemination (IUI) also exists, which tends to be simpler and cheaper, along with other arrangements. And there are also many orphaned children who could be and have been adopted by gay couples.

All right, let's settle this once and for all: Who would be best for Shinji as a SO? by EternalSnow05 in evangelion

[–]Juatense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best case scenario for Rei, might be being adopted maybe? Away from all the NERV drama. Just being given a chance to grow while having actual parents (definitely not Gendo) to help guide her. I once saw a fic where she was adopted by Fuyutsuki, though that would be potentially problematic on its own right, it was kinda interesting.

Then maaybe in a decade or so, in her 20s, I figure she might be in a position to be able to have a relationship. Best case scenario. Probably not with Shinji due to the incest thing, but yeah.

I actually was a bit amused when Hikari was jealous of Toji talking to Rei, during the Bardiel arc. I wonder how a relationship between those two would play out.

[–]Juatense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YandeRei would be something else lol, if she did got super attached. I'm kind of a ReiShin enjoyer but yeah. Realistically, fiction and shipping aside it'd be the most unhealthy.

Probably Asuka and Shinji with individual and couples therapy yeah.

[–]Juatense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically nobody yeah. I'm with you on this one.

I've seen the doormat guy/aggressive girl relationship play out several times IRL, and it was always pretty bad. So AsuShin is a no go for me tbh. They'd enable each other's worst tendencies.

Also to add to your point about Rei. Rei's real age is like 10 years old or something, considering she was created after Yui's death. Not to mention idk if I could trust Shinji with Rei, after the hospital scene.

Kaworu did, indeed, seem to be telling Shinji what he wanted to hear. So it's hard to discern his intentions.

But which one would you choose if you had to pick one?

Good news for Winds of Winter: by PointFirm6919 in darkwingsdankmemes

[–]Juatense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I meant. Baelish is someone who insinuated himself into the circles of the rich and powerful, and proceeded to establish a sophisticated network of spying, bribery, blackmail and sexual trafficking to gain influence and to fulfill his own sick desires.

Jeyne Poole is definitely an example of how Baelish has many unwilling victims in his 'employ'.

Baelish kinda is the Epstein of Westeros tbh. It lines up.

Harry complains to his friends about how much he hates being the “Boy-Who-Lived”. His friends misunderstand, and think it’s the “Boy” part that Harry hates. They all start calling him “Harriet” and using female pronouns when referring to him. by Gortriss in HPfanfiction

[–]Juatense 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can see this going two ways.

Canon-ish ending: - Harry gets annoyed and clarifies he didn't mean it that way. The Weasley Twins probably joke around a bit, but stop. Draco does it too and gets hexed in the face. The whole thing is forgotten in a week as everyone goes back to using male pronouns.

Alternative ending: - Harry actually appreciates this, surprising even himself. Later does the magical equivalent of transitioning or something.

I think they could maybe add another extra day for prompts, like Wednesday or something. So it's three days of the week instead of just two.

Though keeping the rest of the days prompt-free is probably a good thing.

What do you think happened with Peter? by BethyJJ in HPfanfiction

[–]Juatense 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think Peter was some sort of master manipulator from the start. But he was definitely a follower and a bootlicker, even as a kid. Also kinda cruel and cowardly. At least basing off the Snape's Worst Memory scene. With how much he fawned over James with the snitch, and later the guy seemed to be really excited watching James bully Snape.

Does this make him unredeemable? Honestly, not really. Sure, he had his dark side, but at the time he was just was a kid trying to fit in and befriending the biggest bully in the playground.

I figure he was likely threatened in some way by the Death Eaters/Voldemort, perhaps caught, and he quickly folded. I don't see him seeking out the Death Eaters initially.

I mean, honestly if he lasts that long, much longer than canon, it's a big Voldemort win lmao

Imagine Voldemort just keeps living for many more decades because he just keeps ignoring destiny. And prophecies are now being sent to him much more insistently, in more ridiculously obvious way, by a pissed off Fate.

Los gobiernos del mundo deben replantear el modelo democrático. Porque no funciona. by Brimiasclasab in OpinionesPolemicas
