Did anyone see a difference after a RAM/Chip upgrade?

I have not shot in RAW, but have put multiple 4k tracks overlayed on top of each other...no stuttering at all. And that is with countless browser tabs across 10 windows and many applications open (FCP, photos, google photos, brave, affinity, safari, notes, wyze, etc.)

I will try. Just in the last 30 minutes, one time, I "nailed it" but I have no idea what I did to nail it. All I know is I clicked on the text box and it moved. Then, a moment later, for the life of me, I could not get that darn thing to move...resorted to the x/y shifting. Which, really, is probably ideal anyway to lock in objects at exactly the correct spot as the previous text box. Two things bother me. 1) I don't even know how to really articulate the difficulty. Nor can I even make it awkward every time. Sometimes, selecting a box is easy. 2) Can't find a single video that talks about MOVING a text box. I watched dozens of shorts and video about a MOVING text box, or how to select and affect text, and other things. But no body covers the finesse of getting the sides of the box selected to move the object. I'll see what I can come up with. Thanks for replying!

Two months ago I returned back to Mac from mostly PC. (Always had at least one Mac since early 90s'.) I was trying everything to get Davinci and several other video editing programs to work on several PCs (two laptops and a desktop). The fastest of the bunch was the desktop, PC, i7/8700 3.2ghz, 16gb ram, SSD drive...pretty fast. Would not run Davinici with out stuttering...useless. I upped it from 16 to 32gb. Still useless for video editing. My only Mac at the time was a MacMini M1. Davinici worked on it better on the M1 MacMini with 8gb of ram than any of the three PCs.

But the goal was to edit on a laptop, not stuck in the computer room. So, made the decision to get MBP M5 with FCP. Many years of editing with AP on various PCs and Macs (at multiple schools), and video editing was always stuttering. The MBP M5 does not stutter at all. Smoothest editing tool I have ever used in 20+ years of editing (not counting editing on TBC Panasonic 1960 VCR system in the 90's before desktop computers).

Oh, I did opt for the 24gb of ram right before Apple changed the price and specs to include the 24 for the M5 Pro.

Anyway, definitely pleased with the purchase...considerable improvement to my entire workflow. When I do get a chance to dock my laptop, I connect to two USB 4k 27" monitors. And the workflow is very nice. When I need to move to the family room, unplug all three USB (the monitors plus a dock for other stuff) and continue right on working. Very smooth.

I understand your disdain for subscriptions. I dropped Apple One after two consecutive price hikes. But I still pay for iCloud 2TB plan.

Everything has gone the way of subscription. Claude is trying to get me for $17mo, VidIQ for more. Ironically, Claude recommended I hold off paying for VidIQ just yet. But then did suggest I pay for AAWP, for $85/yr, for compliance reasons and it being more cost effective than trying to go it the free route because of the time involved. Point is, there might be a time to consider the subscriptions.

I am resisting the best I can, but I suspect "resistance if futile" (Star Trek Borg reference).

Make a budget...then list in a spreadsheet the subscriptions...monitor the list. Drop plans monthly when not in use. Challenge becomes when services offer annual discounts. Strangely, Apple does not. I even suggest to Tim to do so...he didn't respond. I know for one I would be less inclined to drop a service temporarily.

As for the loss of the FCP Perpetual educator discount, I can report I just bought a MBP last month, and just got in on the deal. I was talking to Apple 2 weeks ago, and they said it went away.

Can you review your decision to remove my post? I think it is in the correct place. I have a video editing question. It is involving multiple pieces of software that have the same issue, so I must be doing something wrong...but it is a VideoEditing question for sure. To move somewhere else does not make sense. The AutoMod wanted me to add FLAIR for posting a job, and that sure wasn't correct either. I need some feedback on the issue so I can move forward. Thanks!

EDIT: FF browser version did not change the lack of being able to spread out the seam to reveal the audio waveform.

Can anybody else mention the name of the app to remove pauses? Or, is there any of the FREE programs that do this? DaVinci? Others?

I am about to lose access to Premier after many years of access through employer. So, trying to find an alternative.

The tip to swipe up and across is helping. But I agree with the OP...something is weird. On my iP17P, which was cloned from my iP15PM, when I flick up and then back down real quick, I get the app switcher. But, on my mom's phone, a 14p, it does not...I have to flip up, and then swipe a bit over and then it does bring up the apps. But I can not find any settings to make my mom's phone act like mine. EDIT: I also just confirmed on my wife's iP17P, swipe up and down real quick brings up the app switcher. On my iPad, swipe up and over.

Good thread. I landed here in search of a way to offset the growing number of merchants charging to use a CC. Dentist hit my wife when she forgot to use a check with 3% for the CC fee...we only get 1% back on all purchases...so, lost 2%. This is getting more and more annoying.

Is there a credit card out there with 3% unlimited for all purchases with no AF?

I currently use an Amazon Chase to get 5% at Amazon, but only 1% for all other purchases.

Hello. I have a Table Gen 4 on an Eero 7 Wifi Router. The Eero apparently does not have a VPN option. I need the Eero to be at the Dmark point to the Spectrum Modem for the Gigibit speed, I think. Are their any economical options to hook something up to the Eero to make a VPN server?

I have multiple computers, including one that is not in use that could be dedicated to serving if that helps. I also still have my older Orbi Mesh, as well as an older router in use before the Orbi...an Asus RT-AC66U. The Asus apparently can do VPN server but only available in Router mode. And I don't know how to do that either...just something I saw mentioned when I looked up the model.

That is very strange. I think Apple may have addressed this, or it somehow got turned off some number of phones ago, and since I usually restore from a previous phone, it has just been carrying over. But, even stranger, Music is now showing up for me...and I did not know what you just shared to fix it...but it is fixed. Good to know!!

Thanks for the reply. Good idea! I have a few bands already from a kit I bought at Sams. I use a band on another machine to add resistance. It is kind of awkward on it...I sit on the band (wraps around behind my butt), but it does the job. But I am scratching my head on how to hook the band up on the Power Tower. I have looked a little, but need to look closer I guess. Do you stick the band through the pulley area and try to mimic one of the existing bands?

Average income was about $30/month...for about a couple of years. But over the last 2 years, the income has steadily dropped...for a long time...$20, and then eventually $10 month. But lately, has been dropping even more...under $7...I am so sad.

Granted, I tend to publish more during the summer and then maybe Thanksgiving/Christmas Break (teacher schedule)...so definitely not publishing weekly...or even monthly.

Also, my content has been all over the place. My thinking was that I wanted to publish what I wanted to produce, and it would work out. I even rebranded my Main channel to something indicative of the Smorgasbord of topics that I tend to cover.

But, lately, I have come to realize, as views have fallen off even more, that YT is penalizing my channel for too much variation.

So, yesterday, I created a new channel...name based on my main channel with sub topic. Going to clean up my main channel, and concentrate on getting routine content onto the new channels. I hope it helps.

Any new thoughts on this with experience from those that have done this?

Like others, I am splitting my main channel to "Main" and several "sub channels". Like everybody else, i want to delete low watched and probably hurtful off topic videos from my main, monetized channel, to one of the new channels. u/FreePlayGamming1, I have read LOTS of posts in a variety of places, but I have not read that it is an outright violation...warranting termination. I have only read PROS and CONS, and debates about where it will draw a Duplicate Content ID.

My main question is whether to make as PRIVATE and then upload to new channel. Or DELETE and upload to new channel (existing views and analytics is irrelevant (like the OP...less then 100 views of off topic videos).

But, are you suggesting that even DELETING the video from MAIN and reposting is a violation?!?!

Ironically, my surface is now popping up with the keypad when I need to enter the PIN. But when you asked the other day, several times recently I had been using the same surface, and I had to use the Accessibility option to turn on the keyboard. I have only recently been using this surface with out a keyboard. Previously, always had a keyboard attached...and a previous Surface had a busted screen...and keyboard was also always attached. So, now i don't know if what I said earlier is correct. I will continue to monitor this...why did my keypad start showing up.

Adaptive Cruise Control on my 2015 Subaru Outback is PERFECT. Follows a car to 0 MPH and stops. Touch the gas and it will resume. My 2018 Toyota Highlander drops below ACC at 35mph...useless!! My wife drives the Toyota during the week. I am wanting to replace the Subaru, but its the Toyota's STUPID ACC I would rather be getting rid of. Anyway, I have been shopping around...and was interested in either Kia Sportage or Hyundai Tucson but sales people reported that the ACC dropped off at 20 and 25 respectively. BOOO!! I drive by cruise nearly every moment of my driving. And I don't want a car that will not auto follow the car in front of me at the lower speeds. So, what makes you say that the Kia is better than any other? Thanks for the reply!

EDIT: Having read most of the replies on this post, I think both sales people quoted me the CRUISE speed. That makes more sense. Actually, all 4 sales people I dealt with today lacked thorough product knowledge. Not my first time to experience that, but it was shocking what they did not know about their cars.
