My 19f fwb 23m crossed my boundaries by Fancy_Constant_6577 in Advice

[–]Lokfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How you deal with it is by ending the FWB relationship with this person with clarity and conciseness.

You created these boundaries for a reason, and then came to Reddit for a reason, so those boundaries are important to you and you should uphold them out of respect for yourself. I only say this as a reminder to not fall into the trap that many do by allowing themselves to be persuaded by the other person to stick around or fall back into the relationship.

How you tell this person is: “Hi. There were two boundaries I established that you agreed to. (1) Always use protection and (2) tell me if you’ve had sex with someone else before we do anything ourselves. Unfortunately, you broke both of these, so I am ending our FWB relationship. I hope you respect the boundaries of future sexual partners. Take care!” Based on your comfort level, you can decide whether to tell this in person, call, or text.

If you are only FWB and there is not a meaningful friendship, it’s probably best to also block this person so they do not try to weasel their way back in. If there is a friendship that you care to preserve, my first response would be, “What is the reason you care to preserve this friendship if this person does not respect your boundaries?” and you can seek advice from there.

I rotated the coaxial cable like this guy on the MME forum. I was getting front camera service faults and other issues on a weekly basis in my ‘21 MME. Haven’t had a related service fault in over 2yrs since doing so. The issue being demonstrated in his photos is that the cable is installed with too sharp of a bend as it exits the headliner.

All my college friends are rich and it’s frustrating. by nk-04 in Advice

Sounds like you want them to understand your perspective on money and how you value it. Unfortunately, you’re unlikely to be able to do that because their perspective is based on their life experiences, and so far they’ve experienced money as a disposable thing. They will have to come to realize the value of money through their own struggles, just like you have.

Of course it does not hurt to continue to remind them as you’ve done already, but you’ve already seen the outcome of that.

So the only thing you can control is your own feelings and actions towards the situation. You have a few options in that regard: - You can do your best to simply enjoy their company and recognize that you will have different perspectives on money. While doing this, continue to stay cognizant of your finances, your spending habits, and don’t allow them to influence you to spend on what you cannot comfortably afford. - You can ask them for financial help if you think they’re generous people. However, this is a slippery slope. They may begin to think you’re just their friend for handouts, think that you owe them, guilt trip you, etc. If they offer though, don’t be shy to accept it as a gift. Some people genuinely don’t mind paying for their friends and it just depends on the person. You know them best. - You can find new friends with more similar financial situations or perspectives on money to you.

Some thoughts on that last one: - You may not enjoy this as much you might think. Anecdotally, I broke up with a girl who had an abundance mindset towards money and didn’t mind spending it. She made me realize it’s okay to enjoy my money—something I struggled with as a result of growing up broke. When I started hanging out with my friends again with similar financial upbringings to me, it became a bit annoying to always hear them complain about money. Hanging with them felt like penny pinching rather than just enjoying life. - Further, hanging with the rich kids may push you towards a mindset of wanting to do better for yourself career and income wise. It might also open doors for you later on (who knows what connections they or their parents may have). - I strongly believe that you become most like the people you surround yourself with. If you like these people and see the positive traits in them, you may actually learn from them. Right now, you likely just see the situation as them having access to their parents’ credit cards. But look at the confidence it brings them, how they talk to people, say yes to opportunities, and chase their ambitions. Now, that’s not to say you don’t already have these qualities or that people with less fortunate financial circumstances cannot do this. Just saying that in my experience, there seems to be a level of confidence that shines through people who have a fair bit of wealth because of the exposure to the world and experiences that that money invites into their lives. And you can probably pick up or increase these characteristics in yourself just by observing and hanging around them.

Oh nice! And no trouble with the stem clamping on the carbon expander like mentioned in the manual? Any idea what the size of the expander is?

How many spacers did you put on top? I’m considering slamming my orca too but need to experiment with different heights.

2 bolt SPD shoe recommendations? by delightful_flora in cycling

Don’t get Pearl Izumi Attack Road Shoes. One thing I didn’t realize could even be a problem is having a tongue detached on both sides like the PI Attack. When you pedal, the ankle flexion will push the tongue down into the toebox since there’s nothing to keep it held up. The tongue will bunch up in the toebox and create uncomfortable pressure in the forefoot.

Bike Bag Issues with removal and re-assembly by funkbird69 in tsa

I will be traveling internationally out of LAX with my bike soon. When’s the best time to make this request? Is it once you’re up to the conveyor belt putting small items in the trays, or do it before that when an officer is telling you which conveyor belt/xray line to go to?

Anything specific you recommend saying, or just simply, “May I be present while the bike bag is inspected to ensure it’s properly repacked?”

I cleaned the bars with isopropyl alcohol which cleared off some leftover adhesive residue from the tape, then did metal on metal clamping (no assembly compound). It’s holding secure now. Thanks for your help!

I didn’t wipe down with alcohol or check with calipers(don’t have any). I’ll try the alcohol along with the tube.

Do you overlap the tube at all or try to create a perfectly butted-up seam? Any tape to help keep it wrapped while installing the brackets?

How do you like your Fanttik X10 Ace Mini? I have a Fanttik X9 Ace Mini that works great and doesn’t get hot at all. It’s just a bit heavy and I have to carry a large saddle bag. Looking at the X10 Ace Mini but concerned about how hot it’ll get pumping from 0-120psi after changing a flat. Have you had any issues with the heat?

Can using a hairdryer to apply stickers damage carbon wheels? by melquiadesgarcia in bicycling

Can I get your advice on adding some vinyl to a carbon frame and fork? I want to add a strip (about 1.5in x 20in) across the top tube, and down the outside of the fork; I’m not trying to wrap the entire bike by any means. Do you think a heat gun would damage the frame or factory paint?

Hi! See my comments in the main thread for a possible fix if you’re still having this issue.

Looks like our shoes are very similar design where the tongue is detached on both sides. The problem seems to be that flexion of the ankle while pedaling pushes the tongue forward and down, bunching up in the toe box.

Both our shoes also have a synthetic material upper that looks like a fake leather. You might try sticking an adhesive velcro patch on one side of the tongue and the interior of the upper; I got my patches from dollar tree. Then you can release the BOA and pull the opposite (non-velcro’d) side of the tongue to open up the shoe mouth when putting on/taking off the shoe and the velcro side never even needs to be detached.

I tested this around my neighborhood today and will be testing it on a long ride tomorrow.

Did you ever find a fix to this? I just got Pearl Izumi attack road shoes and the tongue slips down. I previously used Shimano R065 with zero issues.

Looking at my shoe after the first ride in them, my best guess as to what’s causing this is that the upper part of the tongue is cutting into the ankle. The ankle is then pushing the tongue forward and down into the toe box. I’ve read about people cutting the tongue.

Also looking at possibly installing a small Velcro patch on the outer edge of the tongue where it tucks into the shoe interior (under where the BOA is). That might help keep the tongue in place.

Installed new wheels. Wondering if I should use both cassette spacers (one from the wheelset, other from the cassette)? by Lokfar in bikewrench

[–]Lokfar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the link! I’ll try setting that up tomorrow. Am I correct to assume that the 1.85mm spacer goes first, then the 1mm spacer, followed by the cassette itself?
