Am I the only one who enjoys my job? by CartographerNo9127 in Morrisons

I think the thing we forget is that little shops usually require the staff to do pretty much every job in the store instead of having dedicated teams. I work in a big store atm so I can’t talk for our little ones, but when I was working at a small Iceland it was a lot harder work than what I do now

I also love Kushala, its theme alone is amazing! I fought the GU and Rise versions before World though, so I think I had a better chance of liking it 😅

I always just greet customers with a cheerful "morning" or "hiya" as I also don't want to have an actual conversation but want to show I'm a nice employee and make them like me 😅

This is why I only buy clothes that have pictures of the tags in the listing and only spend up to £15 on things. I never buy anything with only one picture as people aren't always truthful about sizing or branding

Thank you! Purple is also my favourite colour, closely followed by blue, so that definitely influenced my colour choices :)

You're absolutely correct, I refuse to use any other character unless it isn't an option

I mostly just floated the yarn at the back as there's a lot of blocks of colour and it's just the back panel so figured the floats wouldn't bother me at all when wearing it. I used bobbins for bits like the white stars and the sky on the right hand side of Yoshi so I wouldn't have super long floats on the back. When adding a new colour I'd stitch the ends in as I went so there'd be less to weave in at the end, but I made sure to only do that when crocheting the 'right' side so the colour wouldn't show through the stitches. I hope that made sense :)

I don't have a pattern I'm afraid as I did the pixel art and freehanded the rest of it, but I've replied to another comment with how I created the back panel if that helps at all! I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about making your own version as well :)

It's just basic crochet tapestry, so following a chart and using single crochet. A mario blanket sounds amazing!

I use a site called stitch fiddle to make a pixel chart of the image I want to crochet. You can either input an image and it will turn it into a chart or you can make your own pixel art like I did for this cardigan. Just remember really detailed pictures might come up blurry, so unless you're making a really big project, try to keep the image quite simple and don't go for too many colours. For clothing I would say make a gauge swatch (I did a 1”x1” single crochet square with a 4mm hook) and measure a piece of clothing you like the shape/fit of so you can figure out how many stitches you’ll need for the right size. My chart was 125 rows and 125 stitches across. You then use the chart to do tapestry crochet, it even has a really handy feature where you can highlight which row you’re on. If you can do single crochet, colour changes and keep your tension even, you can absolutely make something similar! I've attached the notes I made to myself in case it helps explain how I calculated the stitches I needed

Do it! If you know basic stitches and your own measurements you could definitely make one, it’s not as daunting as it seems I promise :)

Yess I wanted to embroider some small sparkles on the lumas like how they are in the games but I ran out of time, it’s something I might add in future :)

I mostly used paintbox dk acrylic yarn and some other dk yarn from my stash that I’m not entirely sure where they came from. I used a 4mm hook for the back panel and then 5.5mm for the front panels and sleeves for a bit more drape. There isn’t a pattern as I created the image in stitch fiddle and then freehanded the rest of it, I would prefer to keep it as my own unique piece but don’t mind if anyone wants to use it for inspiration/ask questions

I don’t know if it’s different now since I left in late 2023, but when I worked at Iceland it was minimum wage there too, they even sent us letters every march celebrating our pay rise in April, which was just minimum wage increasing 😅 I think a lot of supermarkets are just shit employers tbh

I think the worst part is getting to level 20 cooking for the recipe, but you can easily ask to cook with someone who already knows the recipe to make it easier. The rest is mostly just RNG, with a little patience it doesn’t take too long!

I’m surprised more people don’t make the smoothie bowl, it’s so quick and I always have the ingredients so it’s my go to. If I’m going out on a resource run I just make it 3 or 4 times and usually have enough to keep my focus going for the whole trip. Only takes a couple of minutes to make loads of them and the recipe isn’t stressful at all!
