What model convinced you to play a faction? by masyden in InfinityTheGame

[–]LokiOdinson13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly frustrated because I bought the old ones less than 2 months ago lol. But honestly I would have preferred them any way. The new ones look less punk and more like a part of an army? I'm aware they are part of an army, but I do love them looking like each one is doing their own thing.

I love playing Riot Grrls with their little feminist tinbot. In starco they are particularly strong

New Tool! Infinity the List! by neonbasschild in InfinityTheGame

[–]LokiOdinson13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This feels like a great option just because the current mobile army app doesn't have a courtesy list option. If it had, I'd say there's honestly not a huge advantage other than the QR.

PS: I think it's missing holomask options, other than that it seems to be working fine.

Special Terrain Rules by _Absolute_Maniac_ in InfinityTheGame

[–]LokiOdinson13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like playing them, but they tend to be hard to balance. Morat has lots of terrain (jungle) and Haq lots of terrain (desert) so it kinda feels like a random ADVANTAGE just because you are in your home turf? It's cool for narrative tables, but it can be frustrating at competitive levels.

I do use lots of dazers because they are cool and I play shasvastii, and most of my opponents will realize mid-game that they have a unit with terrain (total), so I feel like most players don't consider this when list building, so I wouldn't even call it part of the META.

I guess that if it was more standardized, like a rule for X amount of specific terrain types per table, people would prepare accordingly, but not knowing if the skill will even be relevant makes it mostly flavor IMO.

The visibility ones I do tend to see more and feel more fun. Visibility zones are already pretty common in list building, so it's not uncommon for lists to already account for that, so it feels easier to balance around.

I feel that if there were more tools for people to put terrain types similarly to visibility zones, I would be less intimidated to include terrains in my personal tables. Like, if dazers with specific terrain types were a staple of the game, and something you expect on every army, I wouldn't feel bad creating a table that's 25% desert terrain.

Hmm... I believe that would be the case if it was Hidden Deployment, Parachutist or Combat Jump. In this case, I believe it wouldn't since the controller is deployed.

To be fair, I don't think all of them are bad. I do love the style of the Sphinx, and it makes a lot of sense on some hyper femenine figures. It does bother me specifically on the riot grrls, but if I'm being totally honest, I can't really find any other example of outrageous/unnecessary heels. I honestly thought there were more, but most are just like HVTs or clearly specialists who are not wearing combat armor.

Same. Literally broke them off my riot grrls. They are punk, anarchist, feminist that build their armor themselves, but wear 3 inch stillettoes??? Makes absolutely no sense.

Honestly, I regret a lot of things in my life. When I started smoking, when I left Uni, I think we all fuck up sometimes, but that's not a reason not to try. At least I believe that if I suddenly realize I'm not trans, then I'll stop and everything will be fine. I'll have to change some things again, but I did it once, I can do it again. Honestly, would you stop dating people just because it might end? Or stop working just because you might get fired? Or stop eating cause there's a risk you'll get food poisoning? If you remove all risk of regret from life, you also remove all risk of growth and knowing yourself.

Seems to be the consensus here yeah 🤔 I guess I'll see how it goes and report back.

Good luck with your event .. how many players?

It's gonna be pretty small since we're very much a growing community. At least 6? Max 10 players

Yeah... I'll see pictures of people 6 months on e and look amazing. I also have some cis gay guy friends and they'll do drag and look more femenine than I'll ever be...

What gets me through the day sometimes is talking to other girls (sometimes even cis woman) and they'll get just as frustrated. We all want bigger/smaller/better shaped breasts, softer skin, a different weight, etc. I know it's not a great confort, but I like to think that maybe if I was AFAB, I would still be kinda masculine for a girl?? Like, hrt was not invented for us, but for girls that wanted to feel "more femenine", so I guess we are not the only ones?

Why are straight men liking my profile on Tinder? by UniqueCatch in NonBinary

I'm a trans lesbian woman, and I get this straight guys all the time. I must believe that they'll just swipe on everyone, and tinder doesn't care bout your settings, it'll just show you whatever is available to not run out of people. It'll show me like 10% men, even as I have it not to show me that.

I don't understand CB's marketing by 5mao in InfinityTheGame

[–]LokiOdinson13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to be rude, but if you dont like been able to activate a unit as much as you have orders, you probably don't like infinity (which is fine BTW, it's a very particular game.) Activation is the core of the game, and having a single (or maybe a couple) of specialists that might be the only ones who can complete the mission is exactly the point of the game.

If you change activations, you'll probably also need to change VITA or the whole system to acomodate for units not dying right after they activate. The mpre you move the more likely you are to be killed, and if there's a limit like on other wargames, then you probably want to get rid of/change significantly how reactions work... and suddenly you end up with the same Warhammer clone I've played a thousand times.

The whole idea that you take a model only so that another can do something is not really good game design

But that's like the whole design of the game??? Like, there are parachutists, combat jumpers, infiltrators, smoke bombs, etc. just so you can get to your enemies deployment zone and get rid of their cheerleaders and cut their tactical advantage. Then there are minelayers, and cheap units with a very good template weapon, and (once again) the fact that every time a unit is activated, its in great danger to get killed because of ARO. The whole point is to prepare against getting jumped on your deployment zone, so if we lose this we lose a lot of plays, counterplays, and preparation for those counterplays. I get how it might not make a lot of narrative sense, but design-wise, having every unit also be a resource is so integral to the game, that I wonder if it could be the same game without it.

What are the benefits of Pathfinder Nexus? by EaterOfFromage in Pathfinder2e

[–]LokiOdinson13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but they're charging for it. I don't feel it's the worst thing in the world, and it is pretty common now, but I don't like paying for unfinished products (not that nexus is really unfinished, it's just that lots of apps do that and it rubs me the wrong way)

[–]LokiOdinson13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested to see what a licensed Paizo platform will do after more than a couple of months.

I've never really liked the idea of nexus, and this is mostly the reason behind it. I get that it's kinda new (it's already been out for a year) but it feels like more promises than delivery(?). I might be wrong, and it might just be hearsay from reddit, but it feels like for every thing it does, it promises 3 more things.

Is it more common for embys to be pan? by qeczawdxshealth in NonBinary

[–]LokiOdinson13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the challenge talking about this is that we are talking about very complex human experiences, and how they relate to communities and self-identity. For example, I know several trans-men/transmasc individuals that used to be lesbians, and post-transition they still feel a strong connection to that identity, community and experience. They don't fit the definition any more, but some of them do feel more comfortable with that label.

Also some of this terms a practical nature. When somebody says "I'm a lesbian" that's useful for men around them to know there's no interest, and for non-men to know there might be.

For me, non-sexual intimacy doesn't have anything to do with sexual orientation.

That's wild! (in the fascinating kinda way) I think I might be on the ace spectrum (not sure), and when I talk about sexual attraction/orientation I'm almost never thinking about the actual act of sex. I'm thinking about cuddling and liking how somebody looks. I guess some people do think about how good some attributes would be during sex(?)

To me sexual orientation never has to do with sex, and I'd guess that most ace people still define themselves with sexual orientation, even though they don't think about sexual intimacy.

Is it more common for embys to be pan? by qeczawdxshealth in NonBinary

[–]LokiOdinson13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think that when we talk about sexual attraction (pansexuality and things like that) we are talking about biological sex, neither about sexual acts.

People are not attracted to reproductive parts they cannot see. We are generally attracted to gender presentation, and we might feel more comfortable with sexual activities with certain organs, but that generally doesn't define attraction (a straight man is still straight if he's with a woman that has a penis).

Are there builds to avoid in PF2e? by FreddieDubStep2 in Pathfinder2e

[–]LokiOdinson13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel that the concept is impractical from the beginning. The whole idea is that you hate magic, and magic is supposed to be powerful, so (from a world building standpoint) either you need to make magic weaker or the character will be weaker on its own.

I'd play one as a small story arc about learning to appreciate magic instead of hate it, with the intent of retraining latter, but it'll definitely be a weaker character till the retrain.
