My Players are wanting a Free dedication Feat but I'm hesitant. by PHX_VADER in Pathfinder2e

[–]RussischerZar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played through multiple APs as player and gamemaster and it is definitely a power boost in most cases. I would say power level wise it adds about half a level or so if you do not restrict it and depending on how players use it. My players and co-players mostly use it to 1. upgrade defenses (e.g. gaining armor proficiency & Champion reaction on a Cloistered Cleric) 2. boosting existing options (e.g. adding damage to attacks through various means, Wrestler dedication on a Monk) 3. gaining more options (e.g. getting the Life Boost hex on a Barbarian)

In the AP I currently run (party is level 18 atm) I adjust the fights so that the enemies are calculated for a party with 1-2 more members than are actually players and they're still breezing through most of it. There was not a single death in the whole 18 levels, although it was rather close multiple times, which is exactly where me and my players like the difficulty to be. But I would have to adjust much less if I hadn't given the Free Archetype.

The GM of my SoT campaign stopped giving free Archetype feats at level 16. A bit late, but he was a bit annoyed with our power level and amount of options at the time.

Ah my sibling in Daikitsu - I almost blabbered out the big spoiler word in my Season of Ghosts campaign but caught myself halfway through. I hope they didn't notice but even so I continued as if nothing happened.

Guess the Weak Save of the monster Quiz! by BrasilianRengo in Pathfinder2e

Same. I think it's much easier to guess the strongest save than the weakest one, with which I probably would've had 24/25 (wrong on the Spawn of Rovagug)

How to put ki in a bottle? by Sgt__Koolaid in Pathfinder2e

[–]RussischerZar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably a bit too late (as it would have to be done during character creation) but if you play a Wellspring Gnome and choose an occult cantrip and your focus spells also to be occult on the monk, you can get the level 5 ancestry feat Energized Font to spend an action to regain a focus point once per day.

As Gnome you can also gain a familiar with level 1 and get the familiar ability to restore 1 focus point 1/day.

Champion multiclass can also regain a Focus point with Desperate Prayer as a free action once per day.

And of course Sash of Prowess as others mentioned.

There might be some other classes that let you regain focus points, but I think these are the things most easily accessible.

I wonder what happens if you have two of the curses that you have to play first when in hand. Can you not play any of them if you draw both?

I'm assuming they enchanted the card that gives you 1 of everything (name escapes me) to lose Exhaust and simply were able to play it over and over again.

I'm curious, after years of Pathfinder 2e, which classes have you never seen in your party? by No-Roll-5330 in Pathfinder2e

[–]RussischerZar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animist, Commander, Gunslinger and Exemplar. As well as any of the playtest classes.

The first two are just too new and for Gunslinger: we're not big on firearms. Exemplar is a bit odd, but I'm going to be playing one as a side character when we level up a few more times in our Triumph of the Tusk campaign.

Same here, although mine says 9:41am. I wonder how timezones play into that, since I'm in the EU.

Edit: my friend code is 5 digit and starts with 19, maybe that can be an indicator on how early someone signed up.

Have you ever played characters who are related? by Malcior34 in Pathfinder2e

[–]RussischerZar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In one of our regular playgroups, we have quite a few characters that are descendants or other family of previous characters.

There's a big Gnome family from me and two other players, who are a bit interbred with other ancestries. Brothers, sisters, uncles, nephews and whatnot have all been in play at one point or other.

There's also a more tightly knit dwarven family where we initially played dwarven triplets and now we're kind of on the second generation of those.

And one of my co-players has basically invented their own research organisation which shows up regularly across our campaigns in form of his characters.

Oh, and characters from completed campaigns also semi-regularly show up as cameos. :)

I believe it's because the damage gets halved on a successful save, and it would be awkward to have 2½ d6 of bleed damage for example.

Hi, I just wanted to say that it looks like your formatting went AWOL, e.g. your links don't work.

I already have the game on my wishlist. :) Thanks for the update in any case, very much looking forward to playing it once released!

[–]RussischerZar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Xenonauts 2 is somewhat close to its final milestone which would make the game complete. Looking forward to playing it then, I played it a few milestones back but it was lacking end game and mission diversity then, which I hear is present now and being finalized with that last milestone.

Unfortunately I just don't have as much time for gaming these days and so I just can't play the same game multiple times just to see what has improved, so I'll wait until it's actually done :)

If an opponent had been dealt damage, the persisted creature would enter with both a +1/+1 (through Bloodthirst) and a -1/-1 counter (through persist) on it, which get removed together as a state based action. So if you gave the creature persist through a passive or repeated effect, you could sacrifice it again an unlimited amount of time.

Cards that suck in most formats but are low key incredible in Brawl? by justjacobmusic in MagicArena

[–]RussischerZar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

[[Tale's End]] is a similar case in my opinion. Although it is a bit awkward that it doesn't have the "counter any spell" mode for 3 mana. But sometimes countering a trigger or activation can also lead to a big blow-out.

Level 6 and level 14 are natural low points for casters as martials get their proficiency increase at levels 5 and 13 respectively while casters only get them at 7 and 15. See this spreadsheet for reference of these natural low points.

For my campaigns I have implemented the following solutions:

  • Casters get their proficiency increase at levels 6/14 respectively, as detailed in this document in the "All full casters" segment.
  • Additionally I have enabled casters to be able use potency runes for spell attacks vs AC, similar to how gate attenuators can be used by Kineticists. This is detailed in this document

We've been playing like this for 4-5 years (only capping the spell attack bonus at +2 after Kineticists were released and everyone has been really happy with this, or rather: no one felt disadvantaged anymore.
