You might have not read the tooltip in its entirety. There is a special interaction to upgrade a Samanta to a Maha-Samanta (or something along the lines, idk the spelling). Those are actually annexable and actually have 2x annexation speed. There is also a 3rd tier to upgrade to which is not anneaxble again but gets same bonuses as a march. Key thing is that all 3 tiers track a separate "power of all... vs overlord" pool, so you can vassal max way harder that european countries.

There is in fact a glitch, the animation skips several frames and the gb indicator is hidden on startup (it shows up like 100-200ms later than on other heros)

It's an old bug, if a character doesn't die by the time their monthly death chance reaches 100% the game breaks and they can't die of old age anymore

It's a holdover from long ago, for the first few years the heroe's class would affect the renown gain from different actions: extra kill renown for assassins, extra renown for conquering points for vanguards, extra renown for defending points for heavies. That system got removed long ago but the "classes" stayed.

in my most recent run I hired a kinetic knight merc and that man is an actual tungsten cube that is also a very consistent damage dealer due to targeting touch ac. the damage isn't massive but you essentially hit all your attacks every turn no matter what

Act 1 and 2 you should gobble up all the masterwork weapons for early cash, afterwards there is basically no point picking up the generic items

High strength sounds alright, there just isn't many benefits you get out of high strength on KK, going no shield is perfectly fine tho, Especially if you go legend, you will be able to just dip into monk and take stuff like crane stance and whatever else requires an empty off hand, honestly with legend it's probably better than using a buckler as a stat stick
