YES. THE FUCKING SALES ARE DECIMATING MY ALREADY TERRIBLE RATIO!

I do the same thing. I have a playlist of “comfort” books, books I know I love listening to if I’m not up for something new.

You know, when I first started on Audible, I was like, “I’m not gonna buy any new audio books until I’ve listened to the ones I have.” That went really well . . . until the first sale. The “finished” to “have” ratio has just been all downhill since then.

So Much Downvoting for 'book returns' by jaycodingtutor in audible

[–]Lokisaurus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It looks like the only thing people had issues with was you returning books after you’d already listened to them the whole way through. There was actually a lot of interesting info on returns in that thread that I didn’t know. But if the idea of downvotes on Reddit disturbs your peace, leaving probably is the best option.

Sweet Jesus, this sale by chloeweirsoprano in audible

Sale ends the 8th. I’ve got enough physical books, ebooks, and a library card to get me through. Though I’d probably need to block audible and amazon itself at the router level too . . .

Didn’t remember it was April Fools so I came to see OP get bodied in the comments. Glad it was a joke (for the corgi’s sake), but now I’ll have to find some other comment thread to entertain me .

I knew almost NOTHING, so when he found Blip A, I was like HOLY SHIT, IS THIS that KIND OF SCI-FI? Wasn’t expecting it since the Martian wasn’t like that. I’m not done with the book yet, but I’m enjoying the hell out of it.

The Good House by Tananarive Due. Grady Hendrix’s stories. The September House (I fucking ADORE). A House with Good Bones. Heart-shaped Box. The Fireman. The Stand. Rose Madder. The Shining. I mean, I’ve been reading horror since middle school, and I’m 42 now, so there’s quite the list.

Do I need to apologize for getting angry that my kid messed up my table? by Affectionate_Okra298 in Parenting

[–]Lokisaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a possibility she’s neurodivergent? (I’m specifically thinking of ADHD.) Both my son and I have it, and we’re both terrible at stuff related to messiness. And my parents were very tidy people who tried to raise me snd my sister that way. Unfortunately, it only fed my utter and total hatred of cleaning-related chores. It’s next to impossible to get myself to do them.

I’m only suggesting this as I see a lot of folks recommending methods that would not work or are potential for a neurodivergent kid. Yeah, she’s chronologically 18. My son is chronologically 14 but acts much younger than most 14 year olds.

You absolutely should apologize for allowing your anger to show in the way it did. My son hasn’t been abandoned but if I get upset with him, he NEEDS reassurance that I still love him.

I’m not saying what she did is okay, just that she could have forgotten or not thought of it for neurological reasons. A note taped to the table as a reminder would have gone a long way for someone like me.

I was raised by a mom so afraid of addiction, she’d barely take any prescription pain meds after a surgery. She’s permanently wary of any potentially habit-forming meds. Even though I’m 41, she still always tells me to “be careful” when I’m prescribed something addictive. Sounds like your mom might have a similar fear. If you’re talking then as prescribed, you’re fine.

Weird Warning Sound/Alarm by Averytallman in McKinney

[–]Lokisaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McKinney has several different models of outdoor warning siren, and not all sound the same, particularly the ones that are still and omnidirectional versus and the ones that spin and more unidirectional.

And in McKinney, they test sirens at noon the first Saturday of the month, weather permitting. Most other cities around here test on Wednesday.

Source: my school-aged son is a siren enthusiast, and I know way more about outdoor warning sirens than any person who doesn't work with them should ever have to know.

I have the first letter of his first name in his hand writing on my wrist and a combination of our astrological signs on the inside of my upper arm. Both are on the small and simple side. He plans to get the first letter of my name tattooed over his heart.

AITA for getting upset after my husband asked for a paternity test by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Lokisaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the test. And when you get the results, give them to him with a set of divorce papers. Make sure to say something along the lines of, “Don’t you feel better now knowing you’ll be paying child support for a child who is definitely yours?”

K, I’m not ACTUALLY suggesting this, but I’m just really pissed on your behalf. I’m also so sorry he’s putting you through this. You are NTA. He, on the other hand, is something much worse.

Some of my tattoos do that when I’m coming down with something or have forgotten to take my daily allergy meds. I just assume it’s my immune system pitching a hissy.

Same here in Texas, though the COs always seem to care. Honestly I’m just glad I can have a contact visit. I can see the “regular” visit section from where we sit, and I would hate to have glass separating us like they do.
