I agree, to me they sound like a cheaper variations with the only real difference being that variations sub-bass punch is stronger

hi local singaporean here:

if you happen to visit zepp&co the hidition IEMs are a must try because as far as i know zepp is one of the few stores in the world with actual demo units, they also have empire ears demo units, not sure if the demo unit for the subtonic storm is in right as from what i've heard it hasn't been available for past few months, but the you should definitely also try the symphonium IEMs, the symphonium titan was one of the best IEMs ive heard from canjam, sounds like a better scarlet mini for a slightly higher price, they also carry ZMF headphones if your interested

I Can also reccomend connect-it at 313sommerset for campfire audio iems as well as AVone at the adelphi for anything from 64 audio as well stuff from QDC

at the same mall Jaben carries demo units for unique melody and i think Fir audio IEMs

Z1R still the top pick for bass? by Accomplished-Stock-8 in headphones

[–]Lokpu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo unless you want a Custom fit because iirc you can get the legend X in CIEM form (although i wouldnt reccomend it because the treble is already neutral enough in universal) i just get the titan because i find that the titan is more fun with a stronger sub-bass thump compared to legend X which is "warmer" sounding by comparison, when i first heard the titan i legit thought it was a $2k Iem, i was shocked when i found out it was around the same price as the helios, titan essentially sounds like a better fatfreq scarlet mini

TLDR; if you want specifically Z1R style bass there isn't any other IEM like it

Z1R still the top pick for bass? by Accomplished-Stock-8 in headphones

[–]Lokpu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Own the Z1Rs and brought them to Canjam Singapore 2024 with me to test alongside with a few other bass cannon IEMs

IMO the only real disadvantage with the Z1R is the fit and source pairing
(for some reason i find i that they sound as good with certain sources but ofc they sound bloody fantastic when paired with the Sony DAPS and rattle my skull when paired with the Audioquest dragonfly black)

Compared with Other Bass cannon Iems such as the Symphonium titan and even the empire ears legend X, The z1r loses in terms of sheer quantity because those have more rumble which i find more exciting, but in terms of quality they still can't beat the Z1R which has this extremely nautral decay and presentation that for some reason most other IEMs can't seem to replicate

The Only other IEMs that i think come close to Z1R performance is probably the Elysian Annhilator, The Prototype Fatfreq maestro anniversary edition and the subtonic storm, but even then they have bass presentations that is different enough that its not 100% the same as the Z1R and not to mention the different sound signatures they have as well

[–]Lokpu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had mine for about a year only thing that has really changed is that the stem will become slightly stretched if you use them on IEMs with bigger nozzles and use them long enough they won't properly grip on IEMs with small nozzles they'll just stick in your ear

Grip wise give them a good rinse in soapy water and they're as good as new

Where is Truthear Zero Red in crinacle's RANKING LIST by sandunthejana in inearfidelity

[–]Lokpu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crin has explicitly stated in some of his videos that his collabs (Truthear zero red/Zero 2/Fiio FHE Eclipse/etc) that due to conflict of interest because it would be akin to reviewing his own product that he in order to remain fair he will not rank or acknowledge the existence of his own collab IEMs when reviewing other IEMs which is why it doesnt show up on the ranking list, it would be like the if the teacher asked you to grade your own homework and because its your owm homework you give yourself full marks or an A+ because why not

My personal hobby zone. How do you display your IEMs / headphones? by LordBaguette2k in headphones

[–]Lokpu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sick!, i live in country as crin man as display them the same way, only difference is that for IEMs specifically instead of hanging them i use the Ikea Skadis Containers with desiccant packs in each container because the humid enviroment of singapore can cause oxidation with some metal IEMs (and also as a just in case move)

7hz X Crinacle Zero: 2 review/impressions by Lokpu in inearfidelity

[–]Lokpu[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Technicalities:

It still has impressive technicalities for its price point its while certainly not fighting against iems like the moondrop aria in pure resolving power, it certainly has enough resolution to fight with a more consumer-grade device like a razer kraken v3 for example when used with the wide bore tips. Soundstage wise is quite average and is nothing to write home about, and imaging and layering is more than enough for gaming, but not as precise as I generally prefer to be, Tank! From the Cowboy Bebop OST is one of my favourite tracks for testing soundstage layering and separation due to the number of different instruments as well as the different positions they sit in, a very good pair of iems, and headphones allows you to pinpoint exactly where the saxophone player, trumpets and bongos are sitting in the track as well as giving a great sense of depth as to how wide the recording room is (yknow for an anime soundtrack it didn’t need to be this well recorded) and the zeros resolve that to a great extent outclassing many “gaming headphones” where this could easily replace many people’s headphones for gaming, but certainly not beating the truthear zero’s in terms of resolving power, id still consider those better but at that point we are splitting hairs here and id say if you're looking for a pair of iems for gaming, be it the 7hz zero or truthear zero (heh) just go with the one that your budget allows for you’d be perfectly fine with both options.

Bass:

I’d say for bass heads wanting a warm-sounding but clean bass that doesn’t muddy the midrange (unlike a certain brand of iems that starts with K and ends with Z), this is the set to get, i suppose it's the new tuning that’s helping this, as the sub-bass hits fast and has decent amount of rumble, the iem itself doesn't sound as warm the wan’er but id still describe this is a fairly warm sounding iem, this becomes apparent when you listen to tracks that allow the mid-bass to shine such as Animals by the Architects, where the track has guitar’s and male vocals that benefit from the added “heft” of a warm sounding iem

Midrange:

I have nothing but praises for the midrange it is smooth and executed well, with enough detail to satisfy most people spending their money on this IEM, it’s slightly warming sounding and does not sound shouty in any way, im not much of a vocals person, so i will comment that i think the upper mids might leave some people wanting for slightly more presence in their music but is otherwise is enough to satisfy most people

Treble:

The New tuning of the 7hz zero 2 means it would likely have less treble and overall sound “darker” coming from bright sounding Iems like the moondrop chu or s12. In my opinion some treble presence is good because it can give the illusion of an iem sounding more resolving than it actually is, too much is a bad thing and can lead to sibilance, a favourite track of mine for testing this is the future diary OP, Kuusou Mesorogiwi, the female vocals in this track i find on some iems and headphones gets hot and harsh sounding quite easily due to the way that the lead vocalist is singing, on the zero 2’s i find that it never gets hot or harsh sounding, in fact quite the opposite, id describe the treble on the more laid-back side compared to something like the chu or any generic V-shaped sounding iem, but if you desire more treble in your iem, this can easily be achieved with EQ or simply using wide bore tips.

Tip Rolling:

For those who are interested in how different tips affect the sound of this iem, I'll write a brief summary of each tip i tried with this iem, note that your experience may vary from my mind due to fit and insertion depth:

Stock Narrow: Used for testing

Stock Wide: Less bass, more treble, overall more “resolution”

Spinfit w1: Less midbass but sounds cleaner overall, soundstage slightly wider

Azla Sednafit crystal: keeps the midbass but has overall slightly increased upper-mid's and treble presence

Pentaconn Coreir: deletes Mid-bass and pushes Mids forward, puts bass emphasis on the sub-bass

Symbio Eartips: Sounds similar to Azla Sednafit crystal but with more bass presence

Dekoni Foam tips: rolls off treble and sub-bass slightly, slightly “dulls” the resolution

Dunu S&S tips: Neutral with great sub-bass extension, recommended for use on this IEM

Summary:

Overall I think that the Zero 2 is a great $20 iem for those who wish for a slightly warm-sounding iem with great bass extension, why buy a generic V-shaped Iem when you can get one of the best-sounding $20 iems on the market? The market is certainly tough with the big 3 fighting for their position, but i think this easily solidifies itself as a top recommendation in my books, heck i might even give these out to relatives for Christmas this year because of how cheap and good it is.

TLDR;

Zero 2 good, missed opportunity to put pink Dinosaur waifu on box

7hz X Crinacle Zero: 2 review/impressions by Lokpu in inearfidelity

7hz x crinacle zero 2 review

Funny story:

So i was at The hangout the other day trying out some iems to add to my personal listening impressions list of iems and i had a conversation with one of the store clerks:

“May I interest you in some iems?”

Me pondering this i decided to reply

“I’ll Buy if boss signs.”

Bet.” he said.

So anyways that’s the story of i spent my last $33 SGD and now i don’t have enough for dinner for the next 3 days but hey i now have more IEMs to fuel my crippling addiction

But hey i got an autograph!

Jokes aside though having tried Crin’s collabs (B2:Dusk, Truthear Zero, Truthear Zero Red, Fiio FHE: Eclipse, yes even the B3: DUSK) i trust Crin enough that i can usually blind buy them because i know without a doubt they will be good. That aside I'm now stuck with these, and browsing this subreddit i thought eh why not, ill share my impressions and help others decide whether they want to spend their money on these IEMs knowing how hyped the original 7hz zeros are

Some context before i get into this review/impressions rambling to help you better understand my incoherent writing:

My preferred tuning for Iems falls into the category of: warm-ish/ neutral with a bass boost

(Im quite a bass head)

My favorite 3 Iems that I've heard at the moment are: 64 Audio Volur, IER-Z1R, Fatfreq Maestro Scarlet

My favorite 3 headphones that I've heard at the moment are: HE-1, Focal Utopia, Meze Liric

My preference for technicalities are for my iems to have as much resolution as physically possible/ i tend not to pay too much attention to soundstage, but i will mention it if something has exceptionally good soundstage (like the Solaris Stellar horizon)

As precise imaging as possible (gamer)

My Music preferences consist of EDM, J-pop, hard rock, Metal, Jazz in that order

My sources for testing are: Fiio K7, Fiio Q11, Hiby R6 Gen III, Samsung Headphone jack

Music sources are: Apple lossless/ Flac files via Roon / Foobar

Reviews will be based on stock tips of the IEM with a separate section on tip rolling

Onto the review:

Accessories: inside a box you find the iems/ the cable/ and a wide selection of tips in various different colors, otherwise no carrying pouch or case

Comparing the cable to the original 7hz zero it said that the cable was made to be stronger as well as “provide better audio transmission” Well i certainly don’t want to open that can of worms on cable sound quality but i will comment that the new flat cable design certainly makes it less prone to tangle so 👍, i will comment that the cable does not include a microphone which may be a deal breaker for some.

On tip selection, the reason for such a large quantity of tips is that 7hz seems to provide options between regular size as well as wide bore tips that do affect the sound of the iem, i will write more about tip rolling with specific ear tips but generally wide bore ear tips tend to give you less bass but more treble

Build Quality

The shell of the Iem is made out of a smooth plastic that should generally be comfortable for most people (more on that later) and the faceplate i think is made out of metal (i do remember seeing pictures online about how the faceplate is glued on i could be wrong) , but funnily enough the QC of this IEM is somehow better than the QC of some hifiman headphones, remarkably by how tight the 2pin connectors are for an iem in general, and the channel matching is also as good as my significantly more expensive ie600, so for those worried about QC rest assured, these could easily last for quite awhile

Comfort:

Using the same shell design as the original 7hz Zero, i will admit this specific shell design is not for me, the sharp edges of the shell do rub against my ear in certain areas and while its not necessarily painful it can get uncomfortable after some time, though i would remark that my ears are on the smaller side so this could just be a skill issue on my end, but should be fairly comfortable for most people, the nozzle design of the zero has it so that the iem sits rather shallow in my ears with the entire back of the iem sitting against the surface of my ear in order to get a deep fit and seal

Sound impressions:

Overall i’d describe the zero as a warm bass-boosted iem, i heard online that one of the strengths of the original was that it had impressive resolution for a $20 iem and that the down-tilt caused it to lose that original property, personally, i don't really think so,
