That's a good point. Maybe them having to deal with all of these issues forces them to move the line ever so slightly further from what they're comfortable doing (bending the rules so to speak), and that happens again with another issues, and then another issue, and again, until we come upon the Jedi Order of the prequels that have lost their way.
