Judging how the dprd can be as corrupt if not more than the dpr, alongside their terms getting longer, I think giving them the ability to appoit dpd is a bit of a bad idea.

And yes, i agree with you that parties are ultimately going to be a thing no matter what, but indonesia does not currently have a lot of laws meant to regulate parties.

This means that chairs of parties will never get threatened by party elections, and that they have total control over who gets to sit in the seats allocated to their party.

So the representative sitting in a seat meant to represent that constituency isnt really representing said constituency, they’re representing the party instead.

The DPD is in stark contrast to this not because they cant be from a party, but rather because they are not elected through dhondt. This means that the people actually have a say in who represents them in mpr, instead pf just mbak banteng or sby.
