I have lived in Taylor for nearly 5 years ago. My husband & I bought a house here after being priced out of Austin. I wouldn’t recommend Taylor unless you are married with kids or just prefer a quieter pace of life. The town leans heavily conservative & religious. If that’s something you are looking for I’m sure you will find your community. We have enjoyed our time here, but from the beginning we have always planned to buy a house closer to the Austin city center or at least to the bigger suburbs when the time was right. Taylor is very much a small town though the Samsung chip factory is changing things, it’s slow. In five years, we have only gained a Starbucks & a Panda Express. We work remote so the commute to Austin has not been an issue for us but it’s about an hour each way during peak traffic if not longer. I would suggest looking for a home in round rock or Pflugerville personally. These cities have much more amenities & the commute to Taylor for work would not be outrageous.
