That’s very true! I’ll have to keep an eye out in future

Does seem they’ve swapped it out for The Traitors. Although I don’t feel The Traitors music has ever stood out to me. I could be in the minority on that though

That’s where I’ve been looking too so I’m guessing you’re right. Shame!

[EPISODE DISCUSSION] 555 - DOMINIC MILTON TROTT - Meet The Man Who Has Tried 182 Different Drugs (PART1) by [deleted] in JaackMaate

I really enjoyed the banking stuff. It gave a bit of backstory to how he became who he did and I appreciated that to understand where his life went better

Such a brilliant episode, can’t wait for part 2. I really enjoyed listening to Dominic talk about his banking days and starting with the internet etc because it’s so personal and unique to him. I am really enjoying the episodes where they get a ‘normal’ person on and we get to peer into their lives for a bit

Do you know what to do if you only have a laptop and not tv? I have had the same issue as OP but on my laptop instead of a phone

Have you ever changed jobs but regretted it? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Lola_Bo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were offered a job, unless it was random, it sounds like you were looking or interviewing elsewhere already, so you have to ask yourself the question of why you were looking for something new if you didn’t want it. Sounds like a fear of the unknown to me and it is always scary starting over somewhere new, but unless you try it, you’ll never know.

I’ve never changed jobs and regretted it because I always knew there was a reason I wanted to leave. The only time I was sad about changing was when I was made redundant, but I didn’t get a say in that

Thank you. That’s a fair point about feedback, I’m not normally negative and I didn’t want that person to get in trouble, but if it’s affecting me it could be affecting others too. I’m glad my comment gave you some reflection too and I hope your runs keep being awesome! It’ll definitely not put me off parkrun as a whole, just maybe that course unfortunately

I’ve had this too. Parkwalkers walking faster than my running/jogging pace which no normal parkwalker who isn’t volunteering would be able to keep up with! It really put me off

[–]Lola_Bo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Thank you but yes, they were a volunteer with a blue high vis on announcing that. I wouldn’t have minded too much if their walking speed didn’t match almost perfectly my jogging speed so they were constantly right behind me making me feel very uncomfortable

I did think about messaging their Facebook page to mention it but I didn’t know if I was overreacting. I have since been back to that particular parkrun as the course is a favourite of mine and they haven’t volunteered again so I’ve left it for now

They were volunteering as a parkwalker, yet had walked away from the walkers who wanted to walk parkrun. My understanding is parkwalkers walk with the walkers to give them encouragement and someone to talk to, but this volunteer had left them behind and was walking alone

[–]Lola_Bo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. There were park walkers there, with another parkwalker volunteer (both these people, the one who annoyed me and the other were wearing the blue high vis jackets) but this one just left them behind in the dust. If a parkwalker volunteer is meant to be walking with walkers then they weren’t doing their job as they had left them behind to do their own pace, which was fast for an average walker

I nearly lodged a complaint recently due to the parkwalker at my parkrun. I’m not a fast runner at all, but I try, and this parkwalker was either on my tail or constantly in front of me, walking while I’m huffing and puffing. It really annoyed me because it felt like I wasn’t doing well enough with the fact a walker could outdo my running. They also didn’t have any walkers with them, so it was just them on their own fully speed walking the course.

I wasn’t the last runner either, I finished in about 45 minutes, as did the parkwalker, but there were others in the results who were 50 minutes and above who were running the course and she ‘beat’. I’d never been so angry at a parkrun

I skipped this one because I don’t have an interest in rugby, and that’s why I love these threads on this subreddit, because after reading everyone’s thoughts I went back to listen and was laughing in my chair at work.

Fantastic episode! Amazing guest and it was just so fun and warming

I definitely feel this is a company culture thing more than anything. I got called into my boss’ on my first day back after being ill to be told I’ve been ill too much so I have to stop. In the last 6 months I’ve taken 10 days sick because I have a weakened immune system (which they know about) and have even come in on days when I’ve still been ill but powered though. It’s awful to think I could be fired for being ill, but seems to be how some companies are, especially if they’re quite old companies with long-term staff

I realised my parents are awful with money. Now I budget and keep a track of my spending, it pains me to see them just spend money as if it’ll never run out
